Cracker Barrel (yes, again)

On our way home, we decided to stop by Cracker Barrel for some cheap and delicious eats.  About half of us had never been to Cracker Barrel before and interested, and the other half were very gung-ho about it.  The closest one turned out to be Binghamton. StB ordered toads-in-the-hole (or is it eggs-in-a-basket?).  You know, toast with the center cut out, and you drop a raw egg into it then cook?  I know she liked it because she said that’s what she almost always orders here.  I actually didn’t remember often ordering breakfast here (though a quick check says [...]

Maialino: Breakfast Prix Fixe

I’ve been dying to try Maialino since TT wrote about the maialino, but haven’t been able to find a time that works for everyone.  Fortunately, I read about this deal on Tasting Table, and who doesn’t have time for a nice lingering breakfast?  Well, I don’t have class on Fridays, so why wouldn’t I?  I snagged a friend who apparently doesn’t care about getting to work on time (and who also generously allows me to take a bite of whatever’s ordered, or outright lets me trade if I don’t like what I’ve ordered), and away we went.  The Tasting Table [...]

Denny’s

Directly following my trip to Peru, I left on a research trip to the West Coast for two weeks.  What was I researching?  Glad you asked: a book on Stadium Eats!  Um, yeah, without a deal in sight currently (hint, hint, anyone reading this who is interested!), I went to preemptively scout out the 6 West Coast stadiums and eat my way up and down the West Coast at the same time, starting in San Francisco, working my way down to Los Angeles, then San Diego, back up to San Francisco and then to Seattle!  Phew!  Tune in at 4:15 [...]

Tuesdays with TT: Austin: Tacodeli

Over the past couple of months I have become quite the food blogger. I or (CT) bring a camera to every restaurant we go to. Since Yvo has been busy with school, I am stepping up and will now have a weekly column, Tuesdays with TT. Bon Appetit! Before I left for Austin, I decided to do some research of places to eat when I get there.   Serious Eats recommended Tacodeli for their tacos, so I added that to my list.  M suggested we go there for breakfast.   NYC is definitely lacking in the good taco department, especially when [...]

Cracker Barrel (outside Philadelphia)

Whenever I go on a road trip, I like to plot the route such that I pass by a Cracker Barrel.  My recent trip to Philly was no exception; I stopped by Cracker Barrel for breakfast directly before heading into Philly.  (Sadly, though it was a Friday and I’ve been seriously impressed with their Friday Fish Fry in the past, it was too early for them to fry me up some fish… boo…)  I opted for the Sunrise Sampler, which includes: two eggs your way, grits, sawmill gravy, biscuits, butter, fried apples, hashbrown casserole, smoked sausage, country ham and thick sliced [...]
