Back at the end of August, my favorite deals site, Blackboard Eats, came out with a special prix fixe deal for Char No. 4 in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. In addition to hearing good things about the restaurant since it opened, CT’s Sister and Brother-in-Law moved to the neighborhood just a couple months ago. You may remember the delicious pizza they treated us to when we helped them move from South Brooklyn Pizza. So amazingly enough we offered to come to the wilds of Brooklyn to visit ML and get a bite to eat. As we walked from the subway, we [...]

CT & I have been back for from our Panama trip for a little while now and already have a bunch of NYC based posts for you. Rather than let them get “stale,” we are gonna have a couple bonus posts at 12:15. Enjoy! After an afternoon of upcoming dinner prep and relaxing, we headed out to meet our friend, TX, at Boqueria for tapas. It was the last day of the Blackboard Eats deal of 30% off for the restaurant, and we knew beforehand that we definitely wanted to take advantage of this deal. We had all been to [...]

Honestly, I have to count my blessings every day because I have the bestest friends in the world. Case in point: I saw a BlackBoard Eats deal for The Tea Set a few months ago – not your normal percentage off the total price free-code, but a Groupon-esque like deal that you purchased basically a gift certificate for half its value – and passed it along to Beer Boor, saying simply, “We should have tea!” (or something equally inane). Being the very generous friend he is, Beer Boor purchased the deal, and… we didn’t go. Literal months passed by [...]

It had been a while since we used a Blackboard Eats coupon, so we perused the listing of available offers to see what piqued our interest. A French bistro called Lina Frey in the Lower East Side sounded like the perfect dinner for a warm almost Summer evening. Once we arrived we saw that they were in full Summer mode with the front wall of windows completely open onto Houston Street. Strangely, around 7:30 there was only one other table with customers. The hostess offered us a four-top right at the front. I guess she wanted to make the restaurant [...]

According to Wikipedia, porchetta is a savory, fatty, and moist boneless pork roast of Italian culinary tradition. The body of the pig is gutted, deboned, arranged carefully with layers of stuffing, meat, fat, and skin, then rolled, spitted, and roasted, traditionally over wood. Porchetta is usually heavily salted in addition to being stuffed with garlic, rosemary, fennel, or other herbs, often wild. According to me, porchetta is DELICIOUS! CT and I actually visited this tiny storefront in the East Village a little over a year ago during the Taste of 7th Street. Since we only had a palm-sized bite of [...]
