Way before I became The Beer Boor, I was a regular at the Blind Tiger Ale House. In its first incarnation on Hudson, it did not have a kitchen, so one was forced, kicking and screaming, to drink and perhaps order food in. Its current location serves a wide variety of appetizers (“Small Plates”), small sandwiches, and other quick, easy foods (“Plates and Sandwiches”). I had an opportunity to take an extended lunch to meet up with a beer-centric friend, so I suggested the Blind Tiger, and we met up for some quick bites — okay, and beer, too. Benny [...]

Follow along for the next two weeks as I recap my weekend trip! Directly after the farewell brunch, I headed back to our hotel and settled out the bill, packed up again all neatly since I had to check my luggage – um, a big scary knife made an appearance in the swag bag – and then walked over to Turtle Tower. Phew! Tune in at 4:15 [...]

I’ve mentioned a few times before that I am an active member of the Midtown Lunch forums. I actually used to be even more active, when I had a job that required I sit in front of a computer for 7 hours a day, but that’s another story. In any case, when this topic popped up – a banh mi blind tasting! – I jumped on the opportunity. An event that someone else organized (and very well, I might add – every last detail was considered!) and all I had to do was pick up a sandwich and attend, then [...]
