Cha An

One recent rainy evening – and there’s been a lot of those, huh? – Beer Boor and I met up for afternoon tea at my request.  Gotta love friends who indulge your whimsy, right?  I chose Cha An not just because it’s been on my radar for a while, but because after my research into where we should go, I couldn’t find a place with a justifiable cost to their tea service (that I hadn’t already been to and/or that seemed like something I’d want to eat).  Cha An’s tea service (served until 7pm) is only $18, comes with tea [...]

The Tea Set

The Tea Set

Honestly, I have to count my blessings every day because I have the bestest friends in the world.  Case in point: I saw a BlackBoard Eats deal for The Tea Set a few months ago – not your normal percentage off the total price free-code, but a Groupon-esque like deal that you purchased basically a gift certificate for half its value – and passed it along to Beer Boor, saying simply, “We should have tea!” (or something equally inane).  Being the very generous friend he is, Beer Boor purchased the deal, and… we didn’t go.    Literal months passed by [...]

Bosie Tea Parlor

Bosie Tea Parlor

The girls get together every Friday for dinner, drinks, whatever to blow off steam after a long work week, and on this particular day, Bosie Tea was chosen as the location. Though the place was empty when we arrived and never filled up, the pastry case was lit up and welcoming. Service was attentive and friendly, and we were never ignored. The menus were scattered with tea-related quotes. I thought this one was particularly cute. “Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cozy, doesn’t try it on.” Of course, in today’s day and [...]

Nespresso Boutique SoHo

Nespresso Boutique SoHo

After my wonderful meal at Jean Georges, I took a leisurely stroll from Central Park West to SoHo, and found myself at the wifi-less Nespresso Cafe.  I’d enjoyed the space during the press event a few weeks prior, but wanted to go back to see what the space was like normally.  I was surprised to discover that it was a sit down cafe, with some light bites and table service… they really want you to focus on the experience of their espresso without distraction.  I found out later that they don’t even allow you to take their drinks to go! [...]

Cha Chan Tang

Cha Chan Tang

After Nom Wah, we decided to walk over to Cha Chan Tang, which was only a few blocks away.  A while back, StB told us about the Special HK Style Milk Tea, which was put into bottles that were then placed into buckets of ice, so as to not dilute the tea.  We all ordered the special HK style ‘lai cha’ (literally, milk tea) for $3.95, though there were plenty of people around us eating dinner still.  The place was pretty bumpin’ on a Friday night, with people eating dinner, having specialty tea drinks, etc.  BB and I both commented [...]
