One day, between events, TC met up with me and we headed to Corrado Bakery to grab a snack and hang out, use an outlet to charge our phones and the wifi to surf the internet. TC was hungrier than I – we actually tried to visit Taim since I’d never been, but they were closed for the holiday week – so he got a prosciutto, mozz and pepper panini. I could tell he liked it but I’m sure he’ll offer his further opinion in comments! Since I wasn’t all that hungry, I chose toast topped with tomatoes and a [...]

I’ve posted quite a bit about Dominique Ansel Bakery, but here’s another one… Chouettes, which were airy puffs with sugar crystals on the outside. Light and tasty but I won’t order these again – not to my fancy. Fresh chocolate chip cookies that tantalized us with the scent, so we had to grab one and my oh my, these were fantastic. Soooo good, warm, and slightly cakey in the center with a chewy edge… mmm. It appears that stopping by Dominique Ansel pre-road trip is becoming a tradition… yes, this was the day before I headed to DC (posts to [...]

I was recently invited to an event showcasing the newest goodies from Petrossian’s bakery. Petrossian is known for its caviar, posh digs, and amazing foie gras, but I’d no idea the cafe next door was just as amazing. (Though I once was the super lucky friend of someone who received a lavish gift basket from Petrossian, post-triple-bypass surgery… and that someone, being a very unadventurous diner and not knowing what half the stuff in there was, let me take everything I felt like. Hello fancy fleur de sel caramel and miel de grece (Greek honey)!) Coconut macaroons, which, if you [...]

Once upon a time, I went to Kyotofu – back when it first opened. I got majorly sick and I was most displeased with the experience – plus, honestly, it’s in Hell’s Kitchen, an area I do not normally visit – until lately. After the Chambre de Sucre event where I sampled many Kyotofu goodies that I enjoyed, I decided I had to revisit. So one evening, after another dinner at Tabata, I headed over to Kyotofu with DLS and friends. Lenny ordered the warm chocolate cake with miso mochi. I know he liked it a lot because I took [...]
Landbrot – Ich Bin Ein Berliner

I admit it – I’m a total dork. After a bit of wandering around the West Village, DLS wanted a snack before dinner. We walked by Landbrot and decided to go inside – a German bakery? I don’t think I’ve seen too many of those around the city yet… and there was an awesome beer bar along the right hand side too! Of course, DLS doesn’t drink, and I’m currently involved in a program that requires you not drink, so we bypassed that and went straight to the baked goods case and ogled the treats. When DLS decided he wanted [...]
