Vegas Gluttony: Carnival World Buffet at the Rio

Oops, I forgot to take a photo of the outside… but it’s pretty easy to find.  If you take any of the FREE shuttles from Bally’s/Paris or Harrah’s to Rio (you don’t have to be staying at any of those hotels to take the free shuttle!), it drops you right in front of the entrance to the casino that leads straight to this buffet.  And if you’re really nice… well, you can email me and I’ll email you a coupon for this buffet, $5 off per person in your party up to 4 people.  (Yes, I’ll email you the coupon [...]

You may or may not realize this, but I go to Woorijip a LOT, which is unusual for me.  I don’t find myself returning to a lot of places because I adore variety or just want to keep trying new places.  But really, this place has excellent prices, delicious foodstuffs for bento, and it’s convenient to some of the things I like to do after work on a weekday with my buddy Cookie.  Recently, I’d read over at Blondie & Brownie about the noodle bar at Woorijip.  Huh?  WHAT NOODLE BAR?  I quickly sent the link to Cookie and we were [...]

HB had tried this place and been so-so on it, and StB had also tried this place but been fairly negative about it.  I’d been to the location on 55th, but only been meh on it – at the time, my first “ramen” love, Ony, was still open – so I wasn’t all that excited about it at that time.  But recently, one of HB’s Japanese clients had raved about the place to her, this particular location, so we all decided to head back and see what the fuss was about. ***I must emphasize here that when I began going [...]

Return to Sapporo

I’ve eaten at Sapporo twice before, but I’ve been hearing some reports that the quality has gone down… so I took a new photo.  This is the shio ramen, which I found a little too salty, but still very satisfying and tasty on a cold Saturday night after shopping all around midtown.  And with a total bill of $11 including tip and one gyoza order split amongst 6 people… a very delicious and cheap meal. recommended

Birthday Week: Ippudo, Seasonal Menu PREVIEW

As soon as we got back from Boston, I’d been invited to attend the preview of Ippudo’s seasonal ramen menu.  I took HB along with me, and once there, wound up meeting up with StB where we proceeded to try everything on the above menu (except tomato ramen, because no one could get over it), and then some.  First up was my order of kamo ttsukemen, cold soba with duck and a dipping broth.  I had to laugh; as soon as it landed on my plate, I recalled StB & my experience at Matsugen, where I had asked her, after [...]
