CT & I have been back for from our Panama trip for a little while now and already have a bunch of NYC based posts for you. Rather than let them get “stale,” we are gonna have a couple bonus posts at 12:15. Enjoy! You may remember a couple months back that CT & I cooked a special dinner for CT’s parents (and Aunt B) to thank CT’s Dad for helping her move into my apartment. Once my parents heard and subsequently read about the meal, they got pretty jealous, especially since I had only made them dinner once before [...]

For the past couple of weeks, CT and I have been looking forward to doing some home-cooking together(yes, you can all collectively “awww” now). She mentioned that it was soft shell crabs season and wanted to take another shot at cooking them since her delicious sandwiches last Spring. CT also has been wanting to take a shot at making ribs. Since we did owe CT’s Dad a dinner for his enthusiastic help in moving her things, we decided to make BOTH! Since we were making such a feast, Aunt B and Scout were also invited since she was in need [...]

A trip to Ikea found me holding this in my hand for a few minutes before I decided why the heck not. It was $4-5 for the jar of orange and elderflower marmalade. If you’ve read my blog at all in the past few months, you know how I adore elderflower and am obsessed with it in all forms (and may recall me mentioning the availability of elderflower syrup at Ikea for a very low price, too! which I picked up another bottle during this trip as well). I didn’t really know what to do with it, since I don’t [...]

What an awesome birthday gift. So of course, I set out to use it right away. Since Crocktober Fest, I’d wanted to have a go with the recipe for which I’d voted. But I don’t really like using my Crock Pot (I’m actually wary of it because it’s not super easy to clean – I know, use my liners that I got from that event, but I’m just not that keen on measuring things exactly… whatever. Plus, I have a new Staub! I want to use this one! There’s no recipe for this because it needs tweaks. I layered a [...]

Things just seem to fall into place sometimes, don’t they? Look at that beautiful hors d’oeuvres. Don’t you wish you were invited to that party? Cater waiters walking around, jacket, tie, holding these out to you. The only problem being… what would you call these? Melba toast topped with Roma tomatoes, pulled pork, caramelized onions? Heaven on toast? Awesome toast? Bite of heaven? Seriously, people, I need a name. Any ideas? Suggestions? How about this? Whoever comes up with a name that just BAM fits,… I’ll give you a prize. Must be local to NYC area so I can deliver [...]
