Super Bowl XLVI

Have you ever wondered what I eat when I throw my own parties? It’s been a super long time since I’ve posted about my adventures in hosting, because it’s been that long since I hosted. I post about Feisty Family parties sometimes – and those are often some of my most popular posts – but that’s more a collaboration of many people. Well, Super Bowl Sunday was fast approaching and I was only invited to one Super Bowl party. As it was both upstate and hosted by someone with whom I’m not close, I suggested just watching the game at [...]

FBM Cookie Swap 2011

As I mentioned, we went to dell’danima to exchange cookies for the annual FBM Cookie Swap. Hungry and KC really outdid themselves this year. Hungry offered up three kinds of cookies: chocochubbies (top), nutter butter (right), and lemon sandwich cookies (left).  While all three were very good, the chocochubbies’ texture was fantastic, and the lemon ones were really nice – a little tang, slightly sweet.  I’m very finicky about peanut butter, so good as the nutter butters were, they didn’t have a shot at making my favorite.  KC offered up an entire box of goodies – shortbread heart with chocolate, [...]

Glad to Give: Cookies for Kids’ Cancer

Cancer sucks.  There’s no other way to put it.  Honestly, this is a food blog so I rarely if ever talk about it, but cancer is definitely one of those things that I just don’t understand – especially that, with all of our advances in medicine and science, how we still haven’t found the cure.  Or at least a preventative.  Or something!!!  It’s so frustrating to know that we’re still not there yet.  With that in mind, I recently signed up for a Foodbuzz Tastemaker’s Program to help spread awareness about a really special program.  From my email: Did you [...]

Father’s Day Gift Dinner

Father’s Day Gift Dinner

CT & I have been back for from our Panama trip for a little while now and already have a bunch of NYC based posts for you. Rather than let them get “stale,” we are gonna have a couple bonus posts at 12:15. Enjoy! You may remember a couple months back that CT & I cooked a special dinner for CT’s parents (and Aunt B) to thank CT’s Dad for helping her move into my apartment. Once my parents heard and subsequently read about the meal, they got pretty jealous, especially since I had only made them dinner once before [...]

A Pie for Mikey

I wasn’t going to post about the pie. I thought I’d just make it, because I was one of the many well meaning, well-wishing people who asked Jennie what we could do to help.  Anything.  I said it, and I meant it – if she’d asked me to do a load of laundry, I’d have done it without hesitation, though I’ve met Jennie all of two times, and chatted with her via Twitter a handful more times than that.  Despite my lack of experience and general desire in dessert making, I thought I’d make it, and maybe Tweet a pic of [...]
