Yet another theme night brought to you by SpB! Tonight’s theme was “Asian BBQ & Booze on a Stick” which piqued the curiosity of many Facebook friends when my status read “can’t wait for Asian BBQ & Booze on a Stick tonight!” Well, here it is, Asian BBQ first: Yakiniku West. Funny enough, I posted about Yakiniku Juju and ended that review with “I will be going to Yakiniku West within a few weeks to compare and weigh in.” That post is dated almost exactly 3 years ago to the day! and I only now went to Yakiniku West. Whoops! I [...]
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue (again)

I went back to L&L recently for lunch with a friend, and ordered the “Hawaiian BBQ chicken” small platter, described as “Hawaii hottest seller grilled boneless chicken marinated in our special L&L Hawaiian BBQ sauce.” Even though I’d requested the small portion, this was still a pretty well-packed container. (What I’d ordered last time isn’t offered in the small platter size unfortunately!) Close up of the chicken. The chicken was very tender, soft, succulent, eliminating any fears of dryness I’d had before ordering. However, it was slightly mildly flavored, a bit more kick would have been nice… to be honest, it [...]

I was recently invited to a preview lunch for the 3rd Annual NYC Food Film Festival, June 13-19th. There’s the menu, and I’m going to make you drool over the goodies we got to eat. “Watch What You Eat” is a pretty simple premise – watch films about food, while you eat the food you see in the film. Love the concept! Forget popcorn; watch a hamburger documentary while eating the burger you’re seeing. Pretty cool, yeah? Yummy cocktail with fresh cranberries. Enough to satisfy my thirst. (And you can see the Peeps in the background that were at every [...]

As promised, more updates from Citi Field! The very hot Sunday, May 10th, or Mother’s Day… versus the Pittsburgh Pirates! (Yes, coincidentally enough, we’d just watched the Pirates on May 1st at their park!) We were determined to have Shake Shack so we left super early… sort of… only… nope, we got to the game about 30 minutes early and there was a monster line at Shake Shack. One day, you will be mine. One day… So instead, we went next to Shake Shack, where there was literally no line at all. Seriously. We both just walked right up to [...]

I am super thrilled to find out that Mama’s of Corona WILL be at Citi Field, hooray! Yes, once again, I will be rooting for my Mets at every game I can get my grubby hands on tickets for… so far, that’s 16 games including one pre-season exhibition game this Saturday (I’m pushing the season up). Anyway, full details on what’s doing at Citi Field for food here. Highlights besides Mama’s? Shake Shack, Blue Smoke (mmm, pulled pork sliders anyone?), tacos, frites, well, check it out yourself. And while I realize today is April Fool’s day, this is no joke. [...]
