FBM Cookie Swap 2011

As I mentioned, we went to dell’danima to exchange cookies for the annual FBM Cookie Swap. Hungry and KC really outdid themselves this year. Hungry offered up three kinds of cookies: chocochubbies (top), nutter butter (right), and lemon sandwich cookies (left).  While all three were very good, the chocochubbies’ texture was fantastic, and the lemon ones were really nice – a little tang, slightly sweet.  I’m very finicky about peanut butter, so good as the nutter butters were, they didn’t have a shot at making my favorite.  KC offered up an entire box of goodies – shortbread heart with chocolate, [...]

Banana Nut Bread

I hate bananas.  I don’t like to eat them.  I don’t really like things flavored with them.  However, there are two applications of banana that I crave: banana nut bread and banana spring rolls.  I’ve wanted to tweak Ruhlman’s quick bread ratio to make a chocolate quick bread that has been bouncing around in my head.  To familiarize myself with the ratio, I made a very straight forward banana bread found in the book.  Next week, we’re going to make the chocolate creation.
