Katsuno

Katsuno

The tiniest of signs mark this restaurant front on Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills.  If you weren’t looking for it – and sometimes, even if you are – you might walk right past it.  Quiet and unassuming, we wandered in one hot and muggy day (ok, that’s a half-truth; we did wander in, but we were also looking for the place). The menu makes brief reference to its sister restaurant, Restaurant Seo, on the front of the menu… or that’s what I think the above is.  In any case, having discovered this place thanks to Serious Eats’ write-up, I knew exactly [...]

Cheeburger Cheeburger

Cheeburger Cheeburger

Being pigs, directly after discovering Fanta Shokata, BlindBaker, BeerBoor, Nommables and I headed over to Cheeburger Cheeburger to fill our bellies.  I ordered a strawberry banana shake, full.  Yum!  I love that they give you the full thing, even though I can never finish it…  A basket of half/half – onion rings and fries – arrived quickly, along with a quad of dipping sauces that we all nommed on.  BeerBoor ordered a 20oz burger – the challenge burger – despite having eaten normally earlier.  I’m not entirely sure what Nommables ordered, but I got this awesome shot [...]

Bann Thai

Bann Thai

I keep regular office hours when I’m working from home, but often I’ll find time to slip out for lunch… one of the many benefits to working from home and working for yourself is being able to take two hour lunches.  Not that it took me two hours, but y’know… I could have, if I wanted.  Of course, then I don’t get paid… haha.  I met up with a friend; Thai coffee and Thai iced tea.  Yum!I heart the mee krob at Sripraphai, so when I saw it on the menu of a place much closer to me, [...]

Ben’s Best

Ben’s Best

The day I posted a review of Ben’s Best (finally) – literally, that very day – Jacquie alerted me to this video over at Food Curated.  Apparently, I missed out on a bunch of dishes, so I went back that very night to order that which I’d missed the first few times…  The pickles and slaw that come to the table when you sit down, nom.  First order of business: matzoh ball soup, which came in this giant cup labeled “Rx Jewish Penicillin” – heh.  I’ll admit here that I’m a terrible New Yorker, as I’d never had matzoh ball before that [...]

Bonfire Grill

Bonfire Grill

I’ll be completely honest with you.  This isn’t a real post nor a real review.  It’s just pictures of what my friends and I ate one Saturday morning before they all went to the driving range and I headed off to the batting cages.  I ate at Bonfire and reviewed it (click here), so when they requested a brunch place in the area, this is what sprang to mind for a girly brunch.  I feel like I haven’t seen my friends in ages – which is probably true since I’ve been travelling and then studying my butt off – so [...]
