El Parador Cafe

El Parador Cafe

Once again, CT & I were called on by my dear Aunt B to puppysit Scout while she was away. We value our time with Scout a lot, so it was no trouble to take care of her. Although we would never think of accepting payment for our services in the form of legal tender, Aunt B insists on treating us to a nice meal. Who are we to argue? You may remember last time she took us to an amazing meal at Ai Fiori. This time around we insisted on going to a more reasonably priced restaurant considering we [...]

Ai Fiori – Birthday

Ai Fiori – Birthday

I enjoyed Ai Fiori so much for lunch in September that when asked where I’d like to go for my birthday, it immediately sprang to mind as the perfect choice.  After we’d been given plenty of time to browse the menu and make our wine selection – I chose a glass of sparkling rose that turned out to be $28, but it was delightful and literally tasted ‘pink’ which the sommelier laughed (not unkindly!) when I told him this – an amuse of kombucha squash topped with a madeira and truffle foam was served.  I didn’t expect to like it, [...]

Tuesdays with TT: The Three Hens

Tuesdays with TT: The Three Hens

October is quite the birthday month for my and CT’s family. We started with Aunt B’s at Otto then CT’s Dad at Zabb Elee and ended the month with my Mom’s birthday. Due to busy schedules, we celebrated on a Friday night (hanging out with the parents on the Friday? eww.) but it also happened to be my Mom’s actual birthday. I decided it would be easiest for everyone to eat somewhere in the neighborhood. Fortunately, there have been a bunch of new restaurant openings over the past couple months. One such opening was The Three Hens. I read about [...]

Tuesdays with TT: Cafe China

Tuesdays with TT: Cafe China

Due to CT’s new job, we weren’t able to make it to New Jersey to celebrate Diwali with her family like we did last year. As such, we celebrated on our own by checking out the recently opened Cafe China close to our apartment. It has gotten brief mentions by the New York Times and Grub Street, so we knew we had to try it eventually. The restaurant is on an odd block in Murray Hill, but pretty close to favorites Szechuan Gourmet and Lan Sheng. The owners made the restaurant into a 1930’s Shanghai theme with a variety of [...]

Ai Fiori

Ai Fiori

Lately, I’ve been filled with nothing but love for my friends.  I seriously have had the hardest time for the past few months with personal issues, and without them,… well, let’s not think about that.  Just know that out of all of this emotional storm swirling around me, I have discovered how truly blessed I am with some of the most amazing friends in the world… and one such friend has been Hungry of Tasty Eating.  Knowing that I’ve been in a poor emotional state, poor financially, and not really eating at any high end restaurants for months, she invited [...]
