Tuesdays with TT: Wahoo’s Fish Tacos

Tuesdays with TT: Wahoo’s Fish Tacos

Last year, it was announced that Wahoo’s Fish Tacos was making the trip across the country and opening up a location in Manhattan. This news was welcomed by us since we will freely admit that the taco scene in LA is hands down 1000x better than NYC. Fortunately, we are starting to catch up. i.e. great fish tacos at Mermaid Oyster Bar. Once Wahoo’s finally opened back in January, CT & I had to check it out. Of course we gave them a month or so to work out the kinks associated with opening a brand new restaurant. CT and [...]

Tuesdays with TT: El Parador Cafe

Tuesdays with TT: El Parador Cafe

After a long weekend celebrating and eating at James Beard and Red Egg, we decided to postpone CT’s birthday dinner with my family until the next weekend in order to recover. Since my parents prefer staying in my neighborhood when they come in for dinner, mostly due to the plethora of free parking, we decided to appease them this time and stay local. Fortunately, we found a restaurant a couple months back that we were looking for an excuse to return, El Parador Cafe. After being seated, we were presented with some fresh chips and their non-vegetarian warm “salsa.” I [...]

Moonstruck Diner

Moonstruck Diner

(Welcome to TT’s Diner Week, on Tuesday you read about my favorite diner for breakfast, now it’s time for my favorite for dinner.) For the holidays, one of the presents my Mom gave me was a voucher for three gift certificates to Restaurant.com. They offer a variety of deals to many restaurants for hugely discounted gift certificates. Sometimes the price is $10 for a $25 certificate and sometimes it is only $1 for that same certificate. You may remember we used one of these certificates at Sa Aming Nayon a while back. Oddly enough, there were only a handful of [...]

Num Pang (Fall 2011)

Num Pang (Fall 2011)

Last month, CT took a random Monday off from work. Since she works up in Stamford, she obviously doesn’t have even half of the lunch options that we have in Manhattan. When she has the rare weekday off, she likes to take full advantage of a lunch she otherwise would normally not be able to get. On this day, she decided to make a return visit to Num Pang since she liked it so much last time and they had some new menu additions. Since I work nearby and it was a slow day in the office, I joined her. [...]

Tuesdays with TT: Piccolo Cafe

Tuesdays with TT: Piccolo Cafe

A couple of weeks ago, CT & I went to the New York Public Library to hear Tom Brokaw speak as part of their Live from the NYPL program. It was a very interesting talk with plenty of interesting stories told by Tom; not just promoting his new book. After the talk was over, CT & I were pretty hungry, so we decided to stop for a bite to eat on the way home. Usually, this means stopping at the local diner because they hardly ever disappoint, but this time we changed it up a bit. Piccolo Cafe had been [...]
