As previously mentioned, my Mom got us three Restaurant.com certificates over the holidays. Although, the site’s offerings were a little lacking, we found a couple of restaurants that did pique our interest. We already redeemed certificates at Sa Aming Nayon and Moonstruck Diner, which both worked out well and left us with happy tummies. For the last certificate, I found a hidden gem for Yerba Buena in the East Village. You may remember we had a great Father’s Day brunch at their sister restaurant, Yerba Buena Perry. (Yvo actually reviewed another sister restaurant, Toloache, this morning.) After arriving, we were [...]

A friend of mine recently told me about Ramen Kuboya, mentioning he had a Groupon or similar deal, so I went with him to check it out. He’d been a few times before and enjoyed it, but wanted my opinion – unfortunately, the appetizers he’d liked there weren’t available when we went (the Saturday it snowed), boo. But no worries, we ordered from the Lunch Set Menu instead, which included pork rice to start. I barely touched this – it wasn’t particularly interesting, but were I hungrier, it would have been fine. The lunch set menu also included gyoza, which [...]

Last Summer, CT and I had a picnic in Central Park with some old friends and some new friends. As we were noshing and drinking “non-alcoholic” beverages (because booze is banned in the park and we wouldn’t dare break the law), conversations were had on a variety of topics including food. A friend of ML mentioned a shop in the Lower East Side called Cheeky Sandwiches that had some of the best Southern style sandwiches such as chicken biscuits and po-boys he has ever had. CT’s ears immediately perked up at that point so Cheeky Sandwiches was added to “The [...]

As much as I hate to say someone else is right, well, Noah was right. The Brindle Room burger is really good. I’ve been there quite a few times and have enjoyed it each and every time, so it’s not a fluke that I love it. I recommend it via Twitter quite a lot, too, and I’ve yet to have someone come back and tell me it was bad. AND it’s now available for dinner as well as lunch, making it more accessible for me to bring people to eat there… which brings us to this post. I wanted to [...]

Through this blog, I meet so many awesome people – one such person being Sarah of Fritos & Foie Gras. As soon as I saw her blog name, I knew we were destined to be besties, because those are two of my favorite things in the world. I had to hide my “WE ARE MEANT TO BE FRIENDS” from her for a little while because 1- usually people freak out when I say that, and 2- because, as StB will attest (and yes, I am still friends with her, though she’s not appeared here for months, it’s because I haven’t [...]
