THURSDAYS with TT: DBGB Kitchen & Bar

THURSDAYS with TT: DBGB Kitchen & Bar

Over the past couple of months I have become quite the food blogger. I or (CT) bring a camera to every restaurant we go to. Since Yvo has been busy with school, I am stepping up and will now have a weekly column, Tuesdays with TT. Bon Appetit!
UPDATE: I am becoming a blogging machine, so I will also be reporting on Thursday afternoons for you.
CT’s sister and her brother-in-law are not only high school sweethearts, their birthdays are a week apart. Isn’t that cute? I was invited to the dual-family brunch to celebrate both of their birthdays [...]

One and One

One and One

I recently met up with a friend to take care of some business downtown, and tried to go to Mara’s Homemade afterwards.  Unfortunately, Mara’s is closed on Tuesdays, so we walked around a bit until landing at One and One.  My friend claimed they had really good fried fish – something about which I am extremely picky – so I agreed to give it a shot.  Since it was still happy hour and appetizers were half off, I decided to get a bunch of appetizers and call it a day.  The house special sauce wings were a touch too [...]

Cupcake Crawl EPIC

Cupcake Crawl EPIC

Two words that strike fear in my heart, and really, the heart of any salty-snack lover: CUPCAKE CRAWL.  My BFF had vacation coming up, and since I’m just not financially able to go anywhere far away currently, we decided to create our own food tours.  She chose cupcakes.  (Guess who has a sweet tooth?  Yes, this is the same woman who likes to finish a huge meal with me and then proclaim, “There’s always room for dessert!  I have a separate stomach for that!”)  CUPCAKES.We chose 5 cupcakeries as the proper number for a good sample size, and decided that [...]

Super Taste

Super Taste

Another stop on the hand pulled noodles journey - Super Taste, directly across the street from Sheng Wang, is impossible to get to quickly from the part of the Financial District where I work(ed).  Oh well.  I stopped by Doughnut Plant on my way back anyway.  Hehe.  The menu was pretty simple and straight forward.  I’d read a couple of other blogs and decided what I wanted quickly.  Fat, thick slices of eel over handpulled noodles.  Mmm, doesn’t that look awesome?Thick, chewy handpulled noodles; I really enjoyed my bowl of piping hot noodles.  What I didn’t enjoy was sitting in the [...]

Doughnut Plant

Doughnut Plant

A recent jaunt through the city for hand pulled noodles left me walking past Doughnut Plant.  (Forgive the Blackberry pic; it was really cold so I just took my phone out and snapped the above photo instead of taking out my P&S camera.)  I decided to give a donut a whirl – yes, I’m always about a year or two behind on trends, forgive me – as soon as I walked in, I knew what I was going to get.  The creme brulee donut was the first choice; BF loves-loves-LOVES creme brulee, so I knew immediately he would try this [...]
