Back in the beginning of March, I saw on Grub Street that Millesime restaurant was offering a $1 oyster happy hour every night until 8 for all “R” months aka oyster season. Millesime opened a couple of years ago in the awkward space in the Carlton Hotel on Madison Avenue. Its Chef has quite the seafood pedigree, but unfortunately hasn’t gotten much press and is somewhat hard to find if you don’t know what you are looking for. CT’s parents have eaten a full meal there before and enjoyed it a lot, but it hasn’t been our list. Maybe a [...]

A couple years ago a new burger restaurant called Schnipper’s opened in the new NY Times Building across from the Port Authority. There was a lot of debate across the blogs about whether it was the new Shake Shack. The competition heated up when Shake Shack opened a new location nearby. The gauntlet was thrown once again, once Schnipper’s announced it would open a second location nearby the original Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. Take that Danny! We have never made it across town to the original location, but when the second location opened we knew we had to [...]

Themes. I like themes. Even more than that, I like when my friends come up with themes as reasons to have dinner together… like ‘sparkling & escargots’ – which brought Hungry, Sarah and I together recently at Almond. I’d enjoyed myself at the Dolce Gusto event the month previous, so it was a no-brainer when we needed a place for sparkling & escargots. First order of business: sparkling. I wanted a sparkling rose, and there was only one on the list, so we got this one. I enjoyed it even though Sarah didn’t seem to as I found it bright, [...]

One of the perks of being a freelancer is making your own schedule – which is also one of the downsides for those who can’t manage their time. I won’t say which one it is for me In any case, one Wednesday afternoon, feeling antsy, I tagged TC and we headed into the city for a beer. Since I had dinner plans around the corner later, we hit up Live Bait – which is one of my favorite bars in the city. By which I mean, I’ve been to Live Bait a notable number of times for a person [...]

CT & I have been back for from our Panama trip for a little while now and already have a bunch of NYC based posts for you. Rather than let them get “stale,” we are gonna have a couple bonus posts at 12:15. Enjoy! After an afternoon of upcoming dinner prep and relaxing, we headed out to meet our friend, TX, at Boqueria for tapas. It was the last day of the Blackboard Eats deal of 30% off for the restaurant, and we knew beforehand that we definitely wanted to take advantage of this deal. We had all been to [...]
