Over Presidents’ Day Weekend, CT & I decided to knock off some more of the outstanding “deals” we had burning in our pockets. One night we went to Yerba Buena and on another we decided to use my last Google Offers deal at Crif Dogs. I have been to PDT, the “secret” bar connected to Crif Dogs a couple of times and enjoyed the food they serve through the tiny window at the bar, but I have never have eaten at Crif Dogs proper. Our friend, KR, spent the afternoon with us that day to help take care of CT’s [...]

After I posted about my experience with the Brindle Room burger, Yvo suggested we go back for a re-do to see if the burgers have indeed gone down in quality since she first started going there. Since Hungry from Tasty Eating felt the same way as I did about the burger, she came too with Mr. M&P, TC and DLS also came to round out the group. (Yvo says: Actually, Hungry – who ate her burger with me – simply felt she should eat the burger without eating fried chicken first, to give it a fair shake.) Like the Friday [...]

A friend of mine recently told me about Ramen Kuboya, mentioning he had a Groupon or similar deal, so I went with him to check it out. He’d been a few times before and enjoyed it, but wanted my opinion – unfortunately, the appetizers he’d liked there weren’t available when we went (the Saturday it snowed), boo. But no worries, we ordered from the Lunch Set Menu instead, which included pork rice to start. I barely touched this – it wasn’t particularly interesting, but were I hungrier, it would have been fine. The lunch set menu also included gyoza, which [...]

After La Churreria, I decided DLS and I should walk over to meet TC and Hungry at Spot Dessert Bar. (And again, here.) That’s right – for those of you counting at home, DLS and I ate at FOUR different places in the space of ONE evening, beginning at 6pm and ending around 10pm: Joe’s Ginger, 456 Shanghai, La Churreria, and then Spot Dessert Bar. Two dinners deserves two desserts, right? Right. We each chose from the dessert tapas section of the menu, which meant that we got a discounted price for ordering 4 tapas – I think it was [...]
Tuesdays with TT: Pommes Frites/Mark

Over the summer, Google got into the daily deal game with Google Offers. One such offer was $5 for $10 at Pommes Frites. I had never been before but heard good things about the french fry palace. Wouldn’t you know it, I held on to this deal for a long time like I did with Bon Chon. CT & I were going to a party in the East Village so we decided to stop for some frites beforehand (and before the deal expired.) Since we had to spend at least $10, we had to get the “double” size order for [...]
