Doughnut Plant, Shamrock Shake & Trailer Park

You know when you write a post and then press “schedule” (or “publish”) and the whole thing disappears? That just happened, and I’ll just be honest: I’m not going to bother even attempting to rewrite it. That’s the kind of mood I’m in – it happens. I will, however, mention (again) that the passion fruit doughnut at Doughnut Plant was a huge disappointment – the glaze wasn’t quite passion fruit-y enough, and while the plain yeast doughnut was good and chewy, it wasn’t flavored except from the glaze. My first Shamrock Shake! Let’s just say it’s no coincidence that I [...]

The next morning – a bright, unseasonably warm Sunday – found me really craving brunch. It’d been a while since I’d had brunch (as you can see by that tag, which is used mostly by TT), but I’d recently read about The Highliner on Tasty Eating. Perfect for its proximity to both DLS’s apartment and our next stop, Chelsea Piers for the batting cages! (And I now have video of me hitting 5 balls in a row! No editing required. I fouled them all, but I still hit them!) A brisk walk down the Highline and we decided to sit [...]

One of the perks of being part of the press? Press events and press dinners, of course. I was invited to a press dinner previewing the Feast of the Seven Fishes at La Bottega at the Maritime Hotel – a traditional Italian feast featuring why yes, seven courses of fish. By the time this post goes up, the menu will no longer be offered (I write 99.9% of my posts in chronological order, and run on about a month-delay schedule) – just join in and see what I ate. Love the bottles of water they placed on each table with [...]

As long time readers of Feisty Foodie know, we love our pizza. The artisanal pizza “trend” of the past couple of years has been very good for us here in NYC. One restaurant that has been on my list for a couple of years now is Company. This Chelsea pizza place was opened a few years back by Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery fame. Mr. M&P brought their potato flatbread to our last potluck. CT & I finally made our way there on the super quiet Saturday after Thanksgiving since we couldn’t stomach any more leftovers. We weren’t the [...]

I recently had the pleasure of a dinner meeting at Buddakan with Jessica, who is part of their PR team. We had fabulous service with an excellent server, but he knew ahead of time who we were, so I won’t focus on that. Let’s just talk about the food… and drink. When I saw the FATE cocktail (on the left) on the menu, I had to have it. Prosecco, pineapple, and elderflower. Yeah, pretty much tailor made for me… and I loved it. Perfectly balanced without being cloyingly sweet. Delicious. Jessica had the DREAM, which tasted like guava juice and [...]
