Post-Midtown Lunch February HH, I needed some real food to eat before I passed out drunk on the sidewalk. (Okay, I wasn’t that blitzed, but still.) We headed over to nearby Menchanko-tei for some ramen yums! I also opted to add on two rice balls or onigiri for $3.50, which is a meh price (I usually get them for about $1.50 each, but not freshly made that minute ones). I got sake (salmon) and mentaiko (spicy cod roe), which were both underfilled and kind of eh for me. My dining companions – my three bodyguards, hah – tried some and [...]

You’ve all heard of my fried pickle quest – I do so love fried pickles, you know – but did you know how much I love Justin Timberlake? YouTube “Plasticville” or his “immigrant” SNL skit.. or any of his Digital Shorts like “Dick in a Box” – well look, I love JT. Now that the hype has died down from his restaurant opening eons ago, I swung by to check out the place and see if the BBQ was well, any good. Y’know. Cuz I’m such an expert on good BBQ, being a NYer and all, y’know. As soon as [...]

SpB and I met up around Austin Street recently and headed over to 5 Burro Cafe, but it was unfortunately super packed! So we turned around and headed to MG’s, which was… really empty. MG’s used to be Mardi Gras, which I’ve written about here and here. Neither time was impressive nor horrifying (well, that 2nd time was borderline horrifying), and with the new name, I figured new management or at least a new menu…The bread was the same as I’d remembered it, nothing spectacular but nice to munch on since I was really hungry. We started off with a basket of [...]

I’ve mentioned plenty of times how much I like shopping around Grand Central Terminal, and of course they have some St. Patty’s Day offerings. Yum! Their PR representative sent over some stuff for me to try… This Shamrock Brownie – you know I don’t like chocolate, but I had to take a big bite out of this (and stop myself from eating the whole thing). Super fudgy, dense, chocolaty… wow. If you like chocolate, you really need to pick up one of these adorable brownies – it’ll send you into choco-coma. Leprechaun cupcake – I gave this to [...]

The last “sort of” monthly meeting with my BFF found us at Press 195… the story goes, I was anxious to show off my new car to her, so she parked her car in my spot and off we went to have sushi on Bell Boulevard (a place HB recommended to me)… except that spot was closed! so we went to Press 195 next door, where BFF had been a few times in the past. We were celebrating Ms. Resident of the Month two months running Frites were on the menu, and frites were ordered. This is the ’small’ [...]
