Cooking for DLS pt 6

Cooking for DLS pt 6

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I had the great pleasure to try Verlasso salmon at Home. But the real test would be to try it at home. Eh? eh? See what I did there? Oh never mind. Regardless, as I mentioned last time, I received a $20 voucher to Fresh Direct (currently the only place to get Verlasso) with the idea that I would try cooking the salmon myself, so I decided to give it a whirl and make it for DLS. (Side note: about nicknames and abbreviations, since this seems to be something people keep asking me [...]

Seattle’s Best

A while back, Seattle’s Best sent me a gift card for a drink. I finally got to the one location in NYC – in Manhattan Mall – and asked the lone barista to make me his favorite drink. We got to chatting and he mentioned that Starbucks owns them. That doesn’t bother me – I’m a Starbucks recovered addict (due to lack of funds, haha) – but I found it interesting that the line up of drinks seemed fairly different. He wound up making me a caramel macchiato type drink, iced, which I found overwhelmingly too sweet even after I [...]

Ben & Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt Product Launch

I was invited to attend a launch party celebrating Ben & Jerry’s latest breakthrough in tasty frozen treats – Greek Frozen Yogurt! I was pretty excited because I’m a huge fan of Ben & Jerry’s (late night snack, chunky monkey, half baked, cherry Garcia, more… I’ve been eating this stuff since I was a kid, and getting fat from it since 2001 when I began eating entire cartons in one sitting, ahem). I’m also a fan of Greek yogurt – everyone has their favorite brands so I’ll just smile mysteriously and let you think what you want on that topic [...]

Chambre de Sucre

One particularly gorgeous Saturday afternoon, a group of us gathered on the 47th floor of a lovely building in Yorkville/Upper East Side, with these lovely views (and one I foolishly did not photograph that showed Central Park’s lake), for a tea party of deliciously epic proportions. I’ve mentioned Chambre de Sucre in the past, when I had the fortune to be able to sample and play with some of their uniquely shaped sugars. However, this time we were all brought together to try them – with such a lovely spread for tea, catered by Kyotofu and Two Little Red Hens [...]

Tazo Tea

You know what makes my job easy? Sometimes, I get emails from companies whose products I already enjoy, asking if I’d like to sample some of their new products. Yes, of course I would like to try your product that I already like, and write about it (though no one ever asks me to write about their product, they just ask if I’d like to try them – I always get to choose what I write about). Such was the case recently when Tazo Tea contacted me to introduce me to their line of bottled teas. Well, one of the [...]
