Recipe Fridays: Porchetta Sandwich of the Century

Every once in a while, I discover just how amazing I am. Sincerely, I am not bragging here.Just telling it like it is.Really, though, it’s how amazingly well I treat myself.I mean, sometimes life just takes a turn for “WTF” and you kind of want to just curl up in a ball and roll over and say “Forget it!” but insteadI made myself a sandwich. Not just any sandwich, my friend. But a pretty damn close approximation of … omfg… Roli Roti!!!Oh no I didn’t – but OH YES I DID *whimperYeah, that good. It’s a little labor intensive, but the end result is so [...]

Thursdays with TT: Iron Sushi

Thursdays with TT: Iron Sushi

CT really wanted to see Inception. She got denied before when her friends from Boston were in town, so we decided to go on a Wednesday night because who goes to the movies then? We got to the theater about 30 mins early, so getting seats was a non-issue since there were only 3 other people there. It filled up a bit, but still quiet as expected for a weekday night. It was a good movie that was super intense. Anytime you deal with anything involving dreams, it can get pretty confusing and a little [...]

Yorkshire Pudding

Yorkshire Pudding

Some years ago, I visited the British branch of my family and learned how to make Yorkshire pudding.  The name is pretty misleading because it’s not a pudding at all, it’s sort of what you’d get if a popover and a soufflé got together in Britain’s Yorkshire county.  Typically it’s served with roast beef (my Aunt L makes a fabulously succulent one) and it must be eaten rather quickly the way you would a soufflé lest it deflates.  The interior of a Yorkshire pudding is moist, pillowy and soft, while the exterior is golden brown and thinly crisp.  The sum [...]

Tuesdays with TT: Jubilee

It has been a couple weeks since Aunt B welcome a new member into the family, so it was time my parents came into the city to meet her.
Say Hello to Scout.

What would a trip into the city for the parents without a meal? I decided we would go to one of Aunt B’s favorite restaurants, Jubilee. The reason why it is her favorite is that their speciality is mussels. She has been coming here for years and it is always consistently good. I took her a couple months back as a Christmas present and had [...]

Side Door @ Beacon 3: Cobb Salad

Side Door @ Beacon 3: Cobb Salad

I’ve become a quick fan, almost a regular, at The Side Door @ Beacon since they opened a few weeks ago as a relatively inexpensive lunch alternative to the “real” Beacon. Side Door started with an exemplary burger and the Mr. Pink’s Double Dog, and recently expanded to prepared salads.

As usual, no real line at the Door, and though the skies threatened, it didn’t rain.

To show that I take my job here at Feisty Foodie seriously, instead of choosing a meat-centric lunch as I’d normally do, I picked up the new Cobb Salad to see how well Beacon pulled it [...]
