Spot Dessert Bar

Spot Dessert Bar

After La Churreria, I decided DLS and I should walk over to meet TC and Hungry at Spot Dessert Bar.  (And again, here.)  That’s right – for those of you counting at home, DLS and I ate at FOUR different places in the space of ONE evening, beginning at 6pm and ending around 10pm: Joe’s Ginger, 456 Shanghai, La Churreria, and then Spot Dessert Bar.  Two dinners deserves two desserts, right?  Right. We each chose from the dessert tapas section of the menu, which meant that we got a discounted price for ordering 4 tapas – I think it was [...]

Buddakan

Buddakan

I recently had the pleasure of a dinner meeting at Buddakan with Jessica, who is part of their PR team.  We had fabulous service with an excellent server, but he knew ahead of time who we were, so I won’t focus on that.  Let’s just talk about the food… and drink. When I saw the FATE cocktail (on the left) on the menu, I had to have it.  Prosecco, pineapple, and elderflower.  Yeah, pretty much tailor made for me… and I loved it.  Perfectly balanced without being cloyingly sweet.  Delicious.  Jessica had the DREAM, which tasted like guava juice and [...]

I had the good fortune to be able to score tickets to Hamlet before the show closed… and I think I’ve only mentioned briefly my love of theater (watching, not participating!) here, but it is one of the things I absolutely adore about NYC.  (About 4 years ago, I set out to see one show a month, and did this for about a year before it got too expensive and I’d seen nearly everything I wanted to.  It was awesome.)  In any case, I just read Hamlet for English class this semester (nope, I never read it before), and watching [...]

SF Foodbuzz Food Bloggers Fest – Outstanding in the Field (dinner on Saturday)

click to enlargeHere’s the big one!  The dinner everyone wants to hear about… Outstanding in the Field, a giant warehouse, and a billion (okay, not a BILLION, but a lot) of food bloggers.  You’re going to have to ignore my awful photographs and look at someone else who probably has way better pictures, because cold warehouse + poor lighting + jabbering away + wine refills + plus plus plus… let’s just say my photographs leave something to be desired, mm’k?  I watched them prep these awesome bowls of soup – mushroom dashi, maitake, shimeji and enoki mushrooms.  Very sweet and [...]

Seviche (Pittsburgh)

After a lot of miscommunication and grumpy stomping around by me, I finally revealed to the BF that the reason for my moody sulkiness was because I was feeling woozy from not eating since the disastrous eggs benedict, which caused the bf to mock me quite a bit.  Whatever, low blood sugar is no joke!  However, it was coming up fast on 6pm, and we had plans to meet up with some friends of mine around 7 who happened to be in town for the very same reason as we were.  (It’s a little freaky… but I’ll explain that all in a [...]
