I had the good fortune to be able to score tickets to Hamlet before the show closed… and I think I’ve only mentioned briefly my love of theater (watching, not participating!) here, but it is one of the things I absolutely adore about NYC. (About 4 years ago, I set out to see one show a month, and did this for about a year before it got too expensive and I’d seen nearly everything I wanted to. It was awesome.) In any case, I just read Hamlet for English class this semester (nope, I never read it before), and watching [...]

click to enlargeHere’s the big one! The dinner everyone wants to hear about… Outstanding in the Field, a giant warehouse, and a billion (okay, not a BILLION, but a lot) of food bloggers. You’re going to have to ignore my awful photographs and look at someone else who probably has way better pictures, because cold warehouse + poor lighting + jabbering away + wine refills + plus plus plus… let’s just say my photographs leave something to be desired, mm’k? I watched them prep these awesome bowls of soup – mushroom dashi, maitake, shimeji and enoki mushrooms. [...]

After a lot of miscommunication and grumpy stomping around by me, I finally revealed to the BF that the reason for my moody sulkiness was because I was feeling woozy from not eating since the disastrous eggs benedict, which caused the bf to mock me quite a bit. Whatever, low blood sugar is no joke! However, it was coming up fast on 6pm, and we had plans to meet up with some friends of mine around 7 who happened to be in town for the very same reason as we were. (It’s a little freaky… but I’ll explain that all in [...]

A few weeks back now, I met up with the lovely Rochelle of Sexy Girls Eat for a Walking Feast. If you have to ask what a Walking Feast is, why are we friends?
I’m just teasing. It is as simple – and as wonderful – as it sounds. A feast while walking. Admittedly, some of our feasting was done while seated, but the eating began around 1 pm and we didn’t part ways until 2 am. The damage we could have done is far worse than actually was done – I was having issues and apologized profusely to the [...]

For a recent Birthday Bunch brunch - ANM’s – the group trooped down to Brooklyn for a HK Cafe style meal. (Ok, in all fairness, there wasn’t much trooping; Dr. PB (formerly MD) lives in outer LI and on her way in picked up MK and I from Queens; the Manhattanites drove in and the rest of the bunch live in Brooklyn somewhere. Since we’re scattered like so, it isn’t that big of a deal… I’m just a lazy ass.)
I’ve mentioned HK cafe cuisine briefly before in a post on XO Kitchen but I’ll explain it again. It’s what I’ve now decided [...]
