Raja Sweets & Fast Food

Raja Sweets & Fast Food

After the first time I went to Ranger BBQ, Noah and I decided to wander into a nearby store that promised kulfi, a type of Indian ice cream.  Something in the pastry case caught his eye, so he also picked up two cookies.  I think these were pistachio – I wound up trying a little bit, and it was chewy, nutty, and tasty.  I don’t know that this was something I would go out of my way to pick up for myself – if you really like pistachios, though, this might be to your liking.  (Perhaps Noah will chime in [...]

McDonald’s – Press Event

McDonald’s – Press Event

I was recently invited to preview a new menu item at McDonald’s.  You may think I’ve sold out or that this is lowbrow, but let’s face it: I have a lot of nationwide (and some international) readers, and McDonald’s is easily one of the few places that I can talk about and comfortably say 99.9% of the people who read will have eaten at McDonald’s before, and if not, will eventually one day do so.  They are everywhere.  I grew up begging my mom to pick me up McDonald’s for dinner because I didn’t like her cooking (I’m still surprised, [...]

Food Gallery 32

Food Gallery 32

During one of the multitude of snow storms that has plagued NYC this winter, CT was working from home. Since my office is close to her place and I made it in to work that day, I invited her out to lunch to check out the new K-town food court, Food Gallery 32. Our friends over at Midtown Lunch have posted about it a couple times with some mixed reviews. I figured it would be best to go with someone else the first time in order to try more things. There are seven different counters to choose from: Boon Sik [...]

Tuesdays with TT: Baorrito

Tuesdays with TT: Baorrito

The day after Thanksgiving is the ultimate lazy day. Mostly due to the fact of the extreme eating and drinking the day before. CT and I decided to go to the movies since that doesn’t require much movement. We ended up seeing Due Date, which was pretty good. Afterwards, we wanted to get something to eat with one stipulation, NO TURKEY! Therefore this was a great opportunity to try Baoritto. The Mexican/Asian reboot of the Baoguette in Gramercy. When Michael “Bao” Huynh isn’t opening a new restaurant (approx. every 2 weeks), he’s changing a space he already owns. While he [...]

Hoagie Haven

Hoagie Haven

When I went down to Princeton, NJ a couple weeks ago for CT’s Dad’s 60th Birthday, we remembered that our friend, Hungry, from Tasty Eating, raved about a local sandwich shop called Hoagie Haven. Unfortunately, that was a super busy weekend, so we weren’t able to try it. Since we returned to celebrate Diwali, CT & I made a pact that we would go to HH no matter what. It is a tiny shop with a ton of options, not to mention, super cheap! As we were waiting in line, I saw a card for a speciality sandwich called “Body [...]
