L’asso EV

L’asso EV

Sadly, as someone who eats out as often as I do, they cannot all be winners – but that doesn’t make the disappointment any less when I do get a dud. On this chilly Saturday evening in March, DLS, Lenny, FS and I headed over to L’asso. FS and I had discussed visiting a week or two prior to that, but schedules didn’t work out – and then ScoutMob came out with 50% off so obviously we had to go immediately. Small pieces of pita came as bread service, with olives, and all were fine – not standouts either way. [...]

CT & TT Family Dinner at Aunt B’s

CT & TT Family Dinner at Aunt B’s

As you may or may not remember, my Aunt B likes to host dinner parties. They can be quite epic events upon themselves and a holiday of their own like Christmas. Since she has gotten to know CT’s parents quite well, she invited both of our families over for a feast. She was the lucky person to attend both dinners CT & I made for our respective parents, so it was fitting that she made dinner for all of us (including CT’s sister and brother-in-law). Unfortunately, my sister who just returned from living in Costa Rica for the past year [...]

Casellula

Casellula

Two of my greatest pleasures in life are introducing people to restaurants and food that I truly enjoy, and meeting people who love food as much as or more than I do. I was able to combine these two things recently when FS’s girl friend visited her from Chicago, by not just recommending Casellula – one of my favorite wine bars for dinner – but also joining them, where I met C, who turned out to love food. It was one of the more enjoyable conversations I’ve had with someone I’ve just met in a long time – food, girl [...]

Casa Nonna – Meatball Day

Casa Nonna – Meatball Day

I get all sorts of fun alerts for cool food events around the city, but when I saw one for all you can eat meatballs I had to tell TC and Goats, who immediately decided to go and check out Casa Nonna for the deal. For $35, they received a plate of pasta, a carafe of their choice of house wines, and plates of meatballs, 5 at a time. I opted not to join in as I was planning a meal for afterwards, but I watched in amazement as TC took down 21 meatballs, Goats hit 17 and Abby valiantly [...]

Via Quadronno

Via Quadronno

I’m a big believer in rewarding myself – for a job well done, or really, anything. One morning found me on the Upper East Side, so I headed to Via Quadronno – one of Martha Stewart’s favorite little cafes (she’s Tweeted photos of the latte/cappucinos they pull for her; one of them had a PANDA drawn into the foam!!!) – for a treat. Clearly, I am not as famous or important as Martha, so I received a simple (but pretty) design on my latte, which was the perfect companion to… I thought the menu said the croissants are from Francois [...]
