StB returned home recently, so of course dinner plans were made. She chose Recette, having heard good things. Of course, SpB and I arrived late, both having come in from far-Queens… but I immediately ordered a fizzy drink – sparkling wine with a cube of sugar in the bottom. It was okay. StB ordered the razor clams with a chili compote. She said it was tasty. ($9)HB and I both ordered duck carpaccio with chicken liver mousse and apple slivers. I liked this dish quite a lot, but at the same time, honestly? $12 for the above and that’s a [...]

My quick snack at Le Pain Quotidien - the Atlantic smoked salmon tartine, with chopped dill, scallions and avocado.A lot of bright flavors going on, which was really a nice pre-karaoke bite. I enjoyed this quite a bit – a schmear of avocado, a bit of cucumber or turnip, salad – whatever was on the plate, I pretty much added on top and ate… and it was quite good. Yvo says: The last time I was at Le Pain Quotidien, I enjoyed it enough, but commented on the price. As that was over two years ago, the prices have gone up [...]

TT recently told me he was planning on taking his girlfriend, CT, to check out a few Restaurant Week restaurants, so of course, I asked him if he’d mind documenting the experience(s) for me. He jumped at the opportunity to be immortalized here on Feisty Foodie – there’s no cred in him saying I had to “convince” him to do this Please welcome guest blogger TT! Restaurant Week 2010Nougatine @ Jean GeorgesThis was my 2nd trip to Nougatine. I was there for my Dad’s birthday last spring. It was then we learned that they do a prix-fixe [...]

A few weekends ago, my darling friend HB snagged a free Sunday of mine to take me out for my birthday brunch. (Yeah, our schedules are crazy right now, so it’s been really hard to coordinate – although by the time this posts, it’ll be December, and honestly, this brunch took place in early November… yes, I’m running far, far behind!) L’ecole, the restaurant of the French Culinary Institute, was chosen as our location – a great place for a starting off point since we wound up walking around and shopping afterwards… instead of studying… The [...]

StB, the lost Bear (ok, she’s not lost, I know where she moved to, it’s just far enough that I only see her once every few months instead of once or twice a month now), returned home for a weekend and made a point to have dinner with the former FC… which I forced myself to go to because I wanted to see her, even though I had an exam the next morning at 9am. (And it was a good thing I did; I received a 104 on the exam. I didn’t even realize you could get over 100 on [...]
