It has been a couple weeks since Aunt B welcome a new member into the family, so it was time my parents came into the city to meet her.
Say Hello to Scout.
What would a trip into the city for the parents without a meal? I decided we would go to one of Aunt B’s favorite restaurants, Jubilee. The reason why it is her favorite is that their speciality is mussels. She has been coming here for years and it is always consistently good. I took her a couple months back as a Christmas present and had [...]

I’ve been dying to try Maialino since TT wrote about the maialino, but haven’t been able to find a time that works for everyone. Fortunately, I read about this deal on Tasting Table, and who doesn’t have time for a nice lingering breakfast? Well, I don’t have class on Fridays, so why wouldn’t I? I snagged a friend who apparently doesn’t care about getting to work on time (and who also generously allows me to take a bite of whatever’s ordered, or outright lets me trade if I don’t like what I’ve ordered), and away we went. The Tasting [...]

Last week, CT was on a stay-cation. I am a big fan of the stay-cation, especially when you live in NYC. There is so much to do and see, that it is nice not having to worry about going to work. While investigating things to do during her time off, she came across a post about a crayfish festival going on at Aquavit. It was $28 for a half pound of peel and eat crayfish and a buffet of various crayfish dishes along with some traditional Scandinavian dishes. Yes, you read that right, $28 for all you can eat [...]

The day I posted a review of Ben’s Best (finally) – literally, that very day – Jacquie alerted me to this video over at Food Curated. Apparently, I missed out on a bunch of dishes, so I went back that very night to order that which I’d missed the first few times… The pickles and slaw that come to the table when you sit down, nom. First order of business: matzoh ball soup, which came in this giant cup labeled “Rx Jewish Penicillin” – heh. I’ll admit here that I’m a terrible New Yorker, as I’d never had matzoh ball before that [...]
Tuesdays with TT: Ali Baba

After getting back from the wedding in Delaware, my parents offered to drive CT & me back to the city and take us out to dinner. One of my go-to delivery places is Ali Baba for Turkish cuisine. In the almost 6 years I have lived in the neighborhood, the food has been consistently good. Usually I only order out from there and I think I have actually only eaten there once. AB and I have been suggesting to my parents for years that we go there. Unfortunately AB couldn’t make it this time.
After [...]
