Tuesdays with TT: Beer Parc

Tuesdays with TT: Beer Parc

As a NYC resident for almost seven years, I have spent many a long weekend at home in Manhattan. Maybe after I win the lottery, I’ll have a weekend home, but until then I am quite happy to stay where I am. The city gets so quiet that trips to the park or even running errands makes it feel like I am on vacation myself. Over Memorial Day weekend, CT & I decided to check out the brand new Beer Parc with some friends. It is one of the newest “beer gardens” in the city in the plaza behind Food [...]

Mint’s Thai Kitchen

Mint’s Thai Kitchen

I recently had the opportunity to offload – I mean, share my wealth of goodies with a friend, AWL – who semi-recently moved into my neighborhood.  Actually, a brief moment here to mention that more and more people I know are moving into the Forest Hills area… mostly because it is freakin’ awesome, and more people should!  The young Asian professionals are taking over from the previous demographic.  Heh, weird.  In any case, there’s always food options to explore in our area, so when AWL suggested Mint’s Thai Kitchen (like my terrible photo of the sign? hehe), I was totally [...]

Reserve

Reserve

A couple of weeks back, CT & I decided to stay local for “date night.” While Murray Hill isn’t really a foodie neighborhood, there are still plenty of restaurants around that serve up some tasty meals. One such place, Reserve, has treated CT well a couple of times in the past. It is a Thai tapas and wine bar tucked in between the riff-raff of Third Avenue. They have a large selections of wines with a few on special. I forget which red we picked, but it was under $30 and quite drinkable. After reviewing the menu, we ordered a [...]

Khao Tip

Khao Tip

Another night with the rents, means another dinner out. Dad suggested we go to a relatively new Thai place that was pretty close to their house. I was pretty shocked by this suggestion since my parents don’t like spicy food, let alone food with such aggressive flavors such as Thai. I was definitely intrigued on how the food would be since Wayne doesn’t have a huge Thai population, if any. Could it be as enjoyable as Kin Shop? We’ll see. Mom was in a soup mood so she started with some Chicken Soup with Clear Noodles. She liked it a [...]

Boon Chu Thai Place

Boon Chu Thai Place

One recent day after a quick jaunt with a friend through my local Asian supermarket, I realized I was starving, and decided we should head over to nearby Boon Chu – bypassing both Pho Bang and High Pearl, two of my favorite area restaurants.  I’ve visited and posted about Boon Chu twice before, but always find myself at Pho Bang or High Pearl; I forget that Boon Chu is just another block away.  Oops!Bottle of water given to us so we could drink as much water as we wanted – nice touch, as in my first review from just over [...]
