Sajni 026

I have awesome friends, and I love eating with them, what can I say?
Ailin ordered the chicken vindaloo.  I know she liked it because she told me so, but she also said it was super spicy, so I didn’t try it.  I know my limits, and spicy Asian foods definitely push them, hard.  Ailin has mentioned to me going here quite a number of times so far, so my guess is she gives this place a great thumbs up I opted to try lamb korma – both to try their korma and to try their lamb.  The lamb [...]

Sajni 026

Sajni 026

When I saw Sajni 026 opening up near-ish to where I live, I was really excited.  There aren’t any small Indian places near me, though there’s Baluchi’s – which is freaking expensive (though I have fond feelings towards them… a different location but that was the first place I ever had Indian food with my friends, lol).  So I was happy to have the diversity expanded a little in our area.  I was even more excited when, a few weeks after it finally opened, a friend of mine who had just moved into the area near me went and [...]

Baluchi’s Masala

When I first saw Baluchi’s Masala open up, I got really excited.  I really like Indian food, partially because it’s delicious, and partially because it’s super cheap (sometimes — well, if you go to the right places).  I was particularly excited because I hate all the places near my office for Indian food.  They’re all steam table/cafeteria style establishments and I have never seen chicken korma at any of these places.  Just… not good.
(You may notice that Indian is a woefully neglected tag on my site.  This is because, like Thai food, I am incredibly picky and don’t often [...]

Spice Market, hosted by Foodbuzz!

I had the good fortune to attend a Foodbuzz Featured Publishers dinner at Spice Market “recently” (October 18, if you must know! – I’m catching up!).  Stacy graciously put together the event, and I had a wonderful time sampling everything that was proffered.

When we sat down, a menu was at each of our place settings.  I was surprised when we weren’t asked what we wanted, but instead brought each dish for the tables to share (multiple servings for our large group), which was a great way to try everything on the above menu.  Nice!  I also made it a point [...]

Tamarind

Tuesday night, a couple of my girlfriends and I had planned on attending the launch party of Catch-22.  It was being promoted by a couple of different blogs and sites, but it turned out to suck hard.  Though HB arrived and got on line at 5:45, they didn’t open the doors until 7:30, and the line stretched all the way around the block.  When we got in, the food they were serving was an insult – cucumber julienne with mayo on pieces of stale bread, random crap deep fried, and just… yet another poorly organized event I’ve been to recently.  [...]
