L&L Hawaiian Barbecue (again)

I went back to L&L recently for lunch with a friend, and ordered the “Hawaiian BBQ chicken” small platter, described as “Hawaii hottest seller grilled boneless chicken marinated in our special L&L Hawaiian BBQ sauce.”
Even though I’d requested the small portion, this was still a pretty well-packed container. (What I’d ordered last time isn’t offered in the small platter size unfortunately!)
Close up of the chicken. The chicken was very tender, soft, succulent, eliminating any fears of dryness I’d had before ordering. However, it was slightly mildly flavored, a bit more kick would have been nice… to be honest, [...]

L&L has been on my to-try list for ages, but let’s face it – if there’s anything you should have realized about me & this blog by now, it’s that restaurants get put on that list and stay there practically forever unless a friend wants to eat there. (This is mostly because despite what people may think… I really don’t go out to eat often at all, and I don’t spend a lot of my paycheck, especially on eating out. Yeah, I know! I just don’t.) Most of the places I visit are with friends – eating is a [...]

You should all know about my bento obsession. Maybe you think it’s just another food blog for me to show off what I’m eating. But I assure you, a good $500 on bentos, accessories, food items, etc. later, this isn’t just a whim. This is a lifestyle choice that I’ve made and have been adhering to for over a year. I am happy to say that most of the weight I’ve lost has stayed off (although ummm the past 2 weeks of eating has caught up and I’ve gained a couple back… damn it!), too! Anyway, what’s this got to do [...]

My coworkers were interested in Restaurant Week (which I admit- if only so they can’t blow my spot- I pointed out to them) so we tried to pick a place close enough to work but nice as well… which led me to pick Roy’s Manhattan. As you can see here, I’ve been to Roy’s Manhattan 3 times previously, Roy’s Scottsdale AZ once, and my first time, the one in San Francisco. What can I say- I like this place for its consistency, its pricing, and just I like the food. Generally I’ve found their Restaurant Week lunch menu to not [...]

Roy’s in Scottsdale
My huge endorsement for Roy’s is that this is the 5th time I’ve been to any Roy’s nationwide, with a strong desire to go to the flagship, original in Hawaii as well. My first time was in San Francisco, which marked the first time I’d had a molten chocolate lava cake (or a chocolate souffle, or a warm chocolate cake, whatever the heck you call it, it is the same: a chocolate cake in individual portion that when you break open, chocolate flows); the next three times were in NYC, twice for Summer Restaurant Week (the first time [...]
