I’m a strange bird. A place can be on my list for quite a while, for whatever reason, and for no solid, real reason will it jump to the very top. And so I found myself at RUB BBQ one slightly rainy night… Weirdly enough, I used to take dance classes across the street once a week for about 6 months, but I never managed to cross the street and try it, though this night, I got up off my couch and dragged my lazy butt into the city to have dinner with a friend. I’m a sucker for wings, and appetizers, and fried foods, [...]

Being pigs, directly after discovering Fanta Shokata, BlindBaker, BeerBoor, Nommables and I headed over to Cheeburger Cheeburger to fill our bellies. I ordered a strawberry banana shake, full. Yum! I love that they give you the full thing, even though I can never finish it… A basket of half/half – onion rings and fries – arrived quickly, along with a quad of dipping sauces that we all nommed on. BeerBoor ordered a 20oz burger – the challenge burger – despite having eaten normally earlier. I’m not entirely sure what Nommables ordered, but I got this awesome shot [...]
Side Door @ Beacon 3: Cobb Salad

I’ve become a quick fan, almost a regular, at The Side Door @ Beacon since they opened a few weeks ago as a relatively inexpensive lunch alternative to the “real” Beacon. Side Door started with an exemplary burger and the Mr. Pink’s Double Dog, and recently expanded to prepared salads.
As usual, no real line at the Door, and though the skies threatened, it didn’t rain.
To show that I take my job here at Feisty Foodie seriously, instead of choosing a meat-centric lunch as I’d normally do, I picked up the new Cobb Salad to see how well Beacon pulled it [...]

Is artisanal pizza overwhelming New York, the way burgers and barbecue have done in years past? OliO Pizza e Più, a new pizzeria in the West Village, offered the entire Feisty Foodie empire front-row seats to witness chef Giulio Adriani at work, and so we found ourselves there before the dinner rush this past Friday.

OliO is located at the intersection of Greenwich Avenue, Sixth Avenue, and Christopher Street. Even without the bright-green paint job, one can’t help but notice the restaurant.
Giulio’s skill was evident from our seats at the “bar”, a set of six stools facing [...]

I’ve been hearing about Ipanema from a buddy of mine (hi Adam!) for years now… literally. He raves about this place almost as though it were his or family owned so a bunch of us gathered on a muggy day to check out the goodies… Chorizo or was this kalabeza? Spiced sausage, pretty tasty… I was picking this up and just eating it alone! Various empanadas filled with yummies… I like the croquette-like ones, deep fried mashed potatoes. The extremely potent looking hot sauce. I avoided this except to take a picture… Adam is insane. He was [...]
