Hi. I don’t care today. I usually care, but today? I don’t. Last night I went to bed at 11:30p – “early” for me relative to my nights lately – and woke up at 12:30a, I don’t know why.
Then again at 1:30a.
Even though I don’t use an alarm to wake up, I do still have an alarm clock with large numbers next to my bed. I check it every time I wake up. I don’t tend to fall into the “crap, only x hours left before I have to wake up” because I know that will give me anxiety-induced insomnia, but I know what time it is. And I can read it without my glasses, mostly, thus the large numbers.
I woke up again at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, 6:45 and finally, 7:15 which is “late” and I had to scramble to get to work on time (was actually early).
In any case, I am tired. I don’t care much. I am super busy, and I am posting this because I promised myself I’d post 3x a week minus holidays. It’s not like anyone will really read a post without pictures anyway, so I am going to let my brain unwind a little and just gab.
You are here for food, however, so I will recap my weekend+ in food, without photos. Some can be found on Instagram, though, if you want to look.
Friday, July 4th: BFF and I went to Butcher Bar in Astoria for extremely disappointing BBQ. Full write-up to come. Fell into a deep food coma afterwards and missed the fireworks but wasn’t too disappointed.
Saturday, July 5th: Leftover BBQ for “brunch” before heading to Coney Island; hot dog and fries from the original Nathan’s; ice cream from a stand on the boardwalk; Buffalo tots at MCU Park while watching the Cyclones have their asses handed to them; sad nachos with little cheese in the cup
Sunday, July 6th: nachos ‘grande’ with gooey melted cheese and pico de gallo at Citi Field; bun bo lui from Pho Bang in Elmhurst (a cold noodle salad topped with grilled beef)
Monday, July 7th: Hing Won‘s crispy pig over rice with ginger scallion oil; homemade noodle salad; macaron from Pomme Palais
Tuesday, July 8th: big salad from Bistro Cafe on 51st; ravioli (I have no idea why I cooked when I got home; I was pouring sweat by the end, probably adding to my exhaustion)
I am sorry to slack on y’all. I really am. I just started taking French immersion classes and joined a bowling league, plus my normal social life, so it’s starting to take a toll on me. This past weekend was especially tiring as it was a holiday weekend, so lots of social activities… I look forward to my nights in, alone, all me!
Au revoir~ I promise to be better… soon…
now for some sleep

I hate it when you feel like your watching the clock all night. Get some rest!

Of course I care!! Thank you, that really means a lot to me. While I have no problem writing for myself, it’s always nice to hear when other people read and it resonates with them. And it’s always flattering and surprising when my food opinions actually mean something to people – for example, I’m actually surprised that you changed your order because I didn’t like the place! It’s super flattering. Thanks for reading! 🙂
