You know when you write a post and then press “schedule” (or “publish”) and the whole thing disappears? That just happened, and I’ll just be honest: I’m not going to bother even attempting to rewrite it. That’s the kind of mood I’m in – it happens.

I will, however, mention (again) that the passion fruit doughnut at Doughnut Plant was a huge disappointment – the glaze wasn’t quite passion fruit-y enough, and while the plain yeast doughnut was good and chewy, it wasn’t flavored except from the glaze.

My first Shamrock Shake! Let’s just say it’s no coincidence that I keep typing “Shamerock Shame” instead of the proper name for it… hahaha. Kidding aside, I found this tasty enough and enjoyed it, though I doubt I’d go out of my way to get one again.

Bacon tater tots with chili cheese? Yes please!
*Thisย post brought to you by “I really don’t feel like re-explaining everything I already did, then lost.

Where are the tots from???
Feisty Foodie says
Trailer Park on 23rd Street. They were better as an idea, the execution was incredibly weak.
CT says
Oh yes… I suppose the name is mentioned in the title. Whoops! That’s so sad. Now I really want tater tots too.
Feisty Foodie says
Haha, nah, it was my fault, the original post that I lost had more information in it. It wasn’t that good but thankfully, Trader Joe’s potato tots are pretty good, and you can always make your own toppings to simulate the above – but betterrrrrrr! That would be a great potluck offering, actually, though it would eventually get soggy… unless you served the tots separately and let people top them with what they liked. OMG idea. ๐

I agree the passionfruit doughnut could be better. I wish it was filled with passionfruit creme and glazed. OOOHH!! And although it wasn’t everything that I had hoped for, I would still get it b/c I love passionfruit.
Feisty Foodie says
Mmmmmmm, creme filled…
T.C. says
OH! Not sure if any good but there is Passionfruit (with cacao nibs) and blood orange donuts at Dough when I went yesterday. ๐
I really like Dough over the plant. I never really like the yeast donuts at plant over the cake ones though.
It is only a good thing that Bed-Stuy is far away from me than convenient.
Feisty Foodie says
Blood orange! Maybe I’ll try to get there on Saturday, since I’ll be in Brooklyn already…

I actually prefer the yeast donuts – in general and at DP. I’ve posted a few times about going there, though I’m not sure I’ve posted about having the blackout – I’ve definitely had it. Thanks ๐

Did you see that Trailer Park also sells cans o’champagne? I was there with some friends a couple years ago and thought that was the funniest thing. One girl got one and said it actually wasn’t bad. We’re weird like that though.
I don’t know if there was too much hype about it or what, but I was underwhelmed by Doughnut Plant on 23rd. The green tea doughnut was kind of dry and didn’t taste green tea-y. The Valrhona chocolate one was the biggest disappointment. It didn’t have that deep chocolate flavor I was looking for. I did really enjoy the creme brulee, which, as luck would have it, was also the smallest of the three. I’m attributing the disappointment to a bad day and am planning to give Doughnut Plant another try soon.
As to the Shamrock Shake, I had it for the first time in my life this year and as with Doughnut Plant, was very underwhelmed. The mint flavor was totally one-dimensional and short-lived. What a waste of a Lactaid pill!
Feisty Foodie says
Ha, no, I didn’t. I’ve seen the cans of champagne in other places though – at wine stores to purchase by the 4pack, complete with straw!
I love DP, actually, though the 23rd Street one disappoints me more often than the Grand St location. That may be because I’ve all but stopped visiting the Grand St. location (because it’s not near things I visit) though…
I thought the Shamrock Shake was alright, nothing special but not offensive either. One of those, yeah sure I’ll get it if I’m there, but when am I ever at McDonald’s? *shrug*
