A friend of mine recently told me about Ramen Kuboya, mentioning he had a Groupon or similar deal, so I went with him to check it out. He’d been a few times before and enjoyed it, but wanted my opinion – unfortunately, the appetizers he’d liked there weren’t available when we went (the Saturday it snowed), boo.

But no worries, we ordered from the Lunch Set Menu instead, which included pork rice to start. I barely touched this – it wasn’t particularly interesting, but were I hungrier, it would have been fine.

The lunch set menu also included gyoza, which were a little oily and not very crisp. They were nice to munch on though and inoffensive, but not particularly wonderful – as in, they come with the meal, great, but I wouldn’t order these separately.

As for the ramen – I chose shio ramen, because I prefer the salt based broth – and I found the broth really tasty. The noodles were pretty standard, but nicely chewy and pretty good. I enjoyed my bowl very much!
Yvo says: While this place is right next to Minca, they’re both super far east from where I normally hang out. I enjoyed my ramen very much, but I don’t know if it was enough to get me back in the area on a regular basis. I suppose we’ll see as I continue my ramen journey…

So glad you enjoyed your ramen. Unfortunately, my own experience was too mediocre.

Very unfortunate you didn’t have the same experience as me! Let’s go visit Jin together 😉

Jin Ramen’s noodles and miso broth definitely better than Kuboya’s.

I’m going to Jin tomorrow! I’m sticking with shio though since I like shio broth the most.
