I was recently sent a big goodie package from Thai Kitchen, containing some of their most popular products and assorted items to play with. One of the items I immediately pulled out was the Thai Peanut Noodle kit.

Included inside were the noodles and a sauce/seasoning blend – all I had to do was pick up bean sprouts (which was ridiculously cheap at Asian supermarkets – I picked up a hefty bunch for about 50c), and my choice of protein. I went with chicken – though the instructions don’t tell me to marinate the chicken, I generally don’t like how plainly cooked chicken tastes with noodles and such. So I marinated the sliced chicken in soy sauce, sugar, garlic and corn starch, a bit of Sriracha too.

Following the instructions yielded a plateful of very yummy noodles. Slightly on the sweet side, but really quick to make, and totally good to keep in the pantry for meals in a pinch.
I unfortunately didn’t get to play with every single item in my care package – there were quite a lot of goodies in there! – but I enjoyed the peanut noodle kit,… and this insane mango chili sauce they included. It was a nice mix of sweet and spicy, listed as ‘spicy’ but was just that shade of spicy that makes my face warm and makes me go ‘mmm’ – I started slathering this on anything I could find, fries, ribs, noodles, whatever. SO freakin’ good, I finished the bottle in about a week and can’t wait to tear open the other bottles (pineapple chili sauce… mmm).
Please note that I received these goodies courtesy of Thai Kitchen, but was under no obligation to post my thoughts, positive or negative. I received no monetary compensation and share my opinion freely – like with everything else!

The Thai Kitchen soup bowls are surprisingly good also. But I can’t resist jazzing them up with sriracha, cilantro, etc…..

Ooh, good to know – I haven’t tried those (and didn’t receive any) but I’ll keep an eye out! And nothing wrong with jazzing up, customizing prepared foods to our own tastes is what makes our taste buds great! 🙂

BTW, that’s my couch!

Shhh, I broke into your house to use the couch as the backdrop… that’s my hair on the couch though 😉 Hahaha, I got mine at Macy’s – there’s a full photo here: http://feistybento.blogspot.com/2008/04/feisty-bento-145-healthy-wholesome.html

Ok, same fabric at least I think. Is it Bauhaus? We got it at Macy’s as well. Treated with no-stain and for the past 11 years I’ve bled on it and spilled red wine numerous times, and everything wipes off with hot, wet barmop. Wait, this is a food blog!
Feisty Foodie says
Yep, this is a food blog, but there’s a lot more to me than just food 😛 No, I don’t think it is Bauhaus, I don’t seem to recall any specific brand name. It’s fairly boxy though, and easy to clean (even without the stain treatment).

I used to eat a lot of thai-kitchen products in college. Especially the pad thai and soup bowls. Surprising flavorful for pre-packaged stuff. Their sauces are pretty good and I still use them too!

Definitely good to know – that mango chili sauce is so addicting!

Woah, I’m actually really surprised the noodles didn’t become mushy slop. That’s a good noodle kit.

The noodles were very simply prepped – I believe soak in warm tap water briefly (I erred on the side of less time), and then added to the hot pan of chicken/etc. I think it could have been a disaster if I wasn’t so intent on having chewy noodles (I tend to undercook all my noodles as a habit… except that one time when I made baked mac&cheese and totally cooked them properly before baking, which resulted in ughhhh). It was definitely a good noodle kit though!
