It’s my birthday week, but you’re getting the presents! Yup – I’m having a giveaway a day this week, so come back every day at 12:15p to check what else you can win. Because life is sweet… but it’s even sweeter when you can share it with people you love!
Today’s giveaway prize? A signed cookbook by none other than THE Bobby Flay. You may know him from the last season of Entourage. No? Hmmm… I don’t know what else he’s done… well, he’s written a cookbook, obviously. Someone help me out here – what’s he done to earn his fame? 😉
The sponsor for this lovely prize is Mohegan Sun, which recently celebrated its 15th anniversary with a fantastic weekend-long party. Fifteen years! You should check out their videos and Facebook albums about this incredible event: weekend wrap video and photos from the Bobby Flay signing.
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me why Bobby Flay is famous besides what I list above. Extra points for creativity, though I will be using Random.org to draw a winner. Hehehe.
Good luck! Winners will be chosen in a week.
The usual rules apply: prize provided and fulfilled by Mohegan Sun/their PR; open to residents who live in the continental US; not open to Feisty Family employees; winners are chosen via Random.org; I did not receive any sort of compensation for this post, nor even a few minutes alone with Bobby, boo.
Hungry says
He graduated the top of his class in culinary school.
Schmidty says
In 1991 he opened his first restaurant (Mesa Grill) and was awarded the title of Best Restaurant 1992 by New York Magazine. (I like that he started out as a busboy and dishwasher and worked his way up.)
Hope you’re having a fun and happy birthday week!
Anastasia says
He was one of the first few chefs to have a cooking show on the Food Network Channel in the beginning of Food Network history. He is also a host on “Food Network Stars” which helps potential chefs become star chefs with their own shows on Food Network.
Aimee Self says
Cause he’s married to that girl that was on Law & Order. lol
Camille M says
Because he taught me you and the public that you can make eggs or a grill.
Kelly Imbrett says
Because 99% of the time he wins the “Throw Down” & put red heads on the map, Well at least for me.
Maria says
Because back in the olden days of the Food Network, he was on that show Grillin and Chillin with Jack McDavid.

I must be watching different episodes of Throw Down than Kelly. I would love to see him win. To me, he loses Throw Down because he screws too much with the simplest recipes. He tries to fancy up basics like fried chicken, biscuits, cupcakes, Mexican, barbque. I am sure his is good but he picks tough competition.
But throw down was going to be my shout out.
Kelly Imbrett says
I Don’t know what to say, yes I know 99% is a stretch
like saying my kid is the smartest or prettiest & actually believing it.
I love him WTF. This is about supporting Bobby!!

I think he deliberately throws a lot of the matches. I mean, they will put some judging category like “authenticity” in there, and he will go out of his way to make something that is not at all authentic.
The way be accepts (and I think invites) defeat in that show has really made him seem like a much nicer person that I had previously imagined him to be. He’s not on it to beat people at their own game; he’s there to give them the opportunity to show off what they love to do.
Maureen says
He hosted the show Boy Meets Frill on the Food Tv
Tameeka Time says
He’s famous because he’s a great chef! And not to mention he’s a decent actor! Even though he played himself, I loved him on Entourage! lol
Sabrina Smith says
He’s an Iron Chef on Food Network! Owns his own resturant and has his own TV show!
T.C. says
Flay is famous for losing with Giada to Mario & Rachael on that special Iron Chef episode.
Feisty Foodie says
Congratulations, TC! You’re the winner of the Bobby Flay cookbook! Check your email for redemption instructions!
Thanks to everyone for entering – also, I’d hoped it was more obvious that I was joking about not knowing why he was famous. I was hoping for more fictional responses but I wasn’t clear about that, haha. 🙂
Kevin says
Flay mainstreamed the act of “crunchifying” a burger — putting potato chips right on the burger instead of on the side.
kcijones001 says
Cause he was banging Ari’s wife….
Chocolate Dan says
He wrote an awesome cookbook called Throwdown based on his popular Food Network show. Its a great cookbook with two versions of every recipe. I swear I want to make every single one- they all look outstanding! I tried the eggplant parmigiana and it was a huge hit at my house! Thx
Teslaca says
Chef Flay has opened and runs several award-winning restaurants. Somewhere around 15 of them. He’s also been on several cooking shows on TV. And he seems like a nice guy!
