After all you can eat ribs at RUB, I wanted something sweet. (Yes, I’m quite a bit behind – you can see by the date on that post and the date on this one…)
Hungry pointed out that Doughnut Plant‘s newest location in Chelsea was just next door, so we took a stroll.
I picked up a toasted sesame donut since it was late in the day and they were out of most everything else.
Very toasty sesame in terms of flavor. Not too sweet.
And a good chew to the donut. Overall, though, I wasn’t that into the donut – it wasn’t enough oomph for me. I wanted more of something.
Luckily, as a bribe to attend AYCE ribs at RUB, TC had brought me two Robicellis cupcakes. Yay!!!
Chocolate peanut butter pretzel – I liked this one, not too sweet but not salty either… It was good.
But this one? The s’mores cupcake? CHANGED MY LIFE. I can’t even describe how good it tasted; again, not too sweet, but just this incredible combination of tastes that all added up to, whoa. The top tasted like graham crackers and toasted marshmallow, while there was chocolate obviously… decadent and awesome. I cry.
Yeah, I think I’ll pass on toasted sesame donuts in the future from Doughnut Plant, but if you haven’t gone to Robicellis yet… I don’t know what you’re waiting for. Really.

the yeast doughtnuts at DP are usually a “miss” for me. I only like the jelly filled and creme brulee.
I love their cake doughnuts. Better texture. Less chewy.

I actually love how chewy the yeast donuts at DP are. I’m not a fan of the cake donuts. If I wanted cake, I’d… eat cake. Hahahaha

I need to go grab myself a blackout donut soon. There aren’t too many donuts that impress me at the Plant but I really like the Blackout.
Glad you liked the cupcakes. Too bad they never seem sweet enough when I have eaten them but I have that sick sweet tooth. 😛
Life changing cupcake? Damn.

I need to make the s’mores cupcake – that sounds so great and my kids love the combo. Can’t wait for the camping. And no Robicellis here 🙁

Feistyfoodie, I enjoy your blog but every time you are promoting a friend’s product — ie Robicelli cupcakes — you should be honest about your relationship with the proprietor. I have noticed you are a stickler about disclosures in every other sense. You owe it to your readers to do the same in terms of your postings about your friends’ endeavors.

I bought those cupcakes for Feisty that day, do not work for or endorse Robicelli’s and can say I am not a true fan of them.
They are okay to me, not overly sweet and not packing that punch I need to knock out my mega sweet tooth. With that said, it is Feisty who really love their cupcakes and thinks the world of them.

Hi Sophia – I am definitely a stickler. I apologize if it seemed like I was trying to be less than upfront in this post. My only guess is that I assumed since I’ve mentioned on this site a few times my relationship with Allison Robicelli (we went to high school together though we weren’t close, and we’ve become friendly in recent years), it was already a given, but I suppose someone just stumbling on this post wouldn’t know that.
Having said that, I do strongly feel that the Robicellis cupcakes are really fantastic, and would feel that way even without knowing Allison. However, had we not attended HS together and know some of the same people, I probably wouldn’t have ever tried her cupcakes since I don’t particularly like sweets anyway.
Thanks for keeping me honest 🙂
