You might remember a previous post or two regarding Nespresso, the espresso-in-a-single-serve-capsule company owned by Nestlé. With promises of food, music, and Ted Allen, we at The Feisty Foodie were invited to take part in a launch event at their SoHo store for the newest model, the Pixie. Like the CitiZ featured in those previous posts, the Pixie makes one “shot” of espresso at a time via Nespresso’s proprietary capsules. The Pixie differs from that CitiZ by being portable (the mechanism that opens the pod bay door also acts as a handle!) and, in the interest of size and weight, [...]

So my faithful readers, you may remember a few weeks back when I had this nifty contest asking What Would YOU Wisp for? I ran the numbers through Random.org and Corinne, with this comment, was the lucky winner. It was a little awkward making plans to have lunch with someone with whom I’d not spoken more than a few words in the past, but I brushed past that. After all, I’ve met lots of people through this wonderful thing called the internet. How bad could it be? Given that I arrived a few minutes late (okay, 15) and Corinne was [...]

BIG NEWS ON THE HOME FRONT: I asked CT to move in with me and she said YES! She may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time she made her decision. Not sure, hehe. On a recent Sunday, her Dad came into town with the station wagon to make the first of many trips from her place to mine. Luckily, her apartment is only five blocks from mine, which made the actually moving of boxes pretty easy. Since CT’s Dad was coming in early to help, we decided last minute to have Indian Brunch. This was decided [...]

Friends who share their fortunes with you are quite lovely, aren’t they? So it was that I came to Chip Shop Park Slope twice in a week; a friend of mine had two Groupons expiring soon, and I was invited to partake, indulging the anglophile that lays fairly dormant within me most of the time.*Upon reflection, it occurs to me that though I often lament that I’m actually a jolly Southern girl trapped in a surly Northerner’s body, because I adore Southern US cuisine so much – deep fried butter, deep fried seafood, deep fried anything – the reality is [...]

Two weeks ago, I was perusing one of my favorite NYC food sites, Eater, and noticed a small announcement that RUB BBQ was celebrating its six year anniversary. In honor of that, they were offering all-you-can-eat ribs with two sides and unlimited soda/tea/lemonade for $25.95 every Wednesday through the end of May. I quickly sent out an email to the FBM crew to organize a trip over there the following Wednesday. Lo and behold, we rolled up with eight strong! One of us even bribed Yvo with two cupcakes to come along. I was a little worried that the place [...]
