Christmas at Aunt B’s

Christmas at Aunt B’s

Although my family isn’t Christian, we have been celebrating Christmas for the past couple of years as a way to get together with some good food and drink. I like to think of it as a second Thanksgiving, which is fitting this year considering I spent Thanksgiving with CT’s family. Aunt B really loves entertaining and cooking, so she was more than happy to host. I was able to even help out and bring a dish or two, which was fun. Just like with CT’s family, Aunt B usually goes a bit overboard with the amount of food served. This [...]

Hickory Farms Party Planner Pack

Hickory Farms not only sponsored that cool contest recently, they also sent me my own Party Planner pack to sample and eat.  So I put together my own private party one evening – my TV night, actually (yes, once a week, I have a night I dedicate to TV; I don’t watch that much TV in general, but the shows I do watch tend to be on Thursday nights, with one exception) – and threw together a meats & cheeses board.  As I mentioned in the original post, if you had this box on hand, all you need to do [...]

The Gorilla Bread Experiment

The Gorilla Bread Experiment

Sometimes I get tired of baking from scratch, especially around the holidays when everyone and everything is on fast-forward.  Throw in finals and term projects and it’s a recipe for havoc.  After a few friends put a bug in my ear about something called monkey bread, I thought I’d try it out and see what the fuss was about. I’ve learned monkey bread is really the hanging, edible gourdlike fruit of the baobab tree in Africa, Madagascar, and Australia that stores a lot of water. (source: www.thefreedictionary.com). So apparently it is the tree version of a camel? For those of [...]

Foodzie Tasting Box

To those who are Facebook fans of The Feisty Foodie (and if you’re not, you should be; not least of all because if you’re not, you miss out on things like this!), you’ll recall that I ran a quick contest a few weeks ago for two Foodzie tasting boxes.  Foodzie was kind enough to send one along to me, and mine contained 479o Popcorn, bacon peanut brittle from Redhead in NYC! why haven’t I had it before?!, alfajores, Little Ragghi’s parmesan crackers, and heirloom beans.  Though I haven’t had a chance to make the beans, I have thoroughly enjoyed every [...]

Tuesdays with TT: Indian Brunch

CT will be spending the holidays in South Africa with some friends and her parents will be going to India, so it was decided we should all get together the Sunday before everyone leaves. CT’s parents have been itching to use their kitchen, so brunch was home-cooked at their new apartment. Yes, CT & I did go to the FBM Holiday Potluck the day before and were still full, but we are FBM for life!! We started off with some Ground Beef Chop. CT’s Mom must have made 20 of them for five people. She definitely is an honoree member [...]
