Recently, CT was away with her family for the weekend, so we decided to go out for dinner on a Monday night. Highly unusual for me. However, since we both had a case of the Mondays, we decided to stay local. I have walked by Vezzo a lot over the years, and it always looked busy, but I have never actually eaten there before. CT has been there a couple times before and liked it.
We decided to share 2 appetizers and a pizza.
First up was the Rotella; Prosciutto di Parma rolls with Arugula, Roasted Pepper, & Smoked Mozzarella. It was not exactly what I expected. For some reason, I thought it would be more of a bread. Anyway, it was quite good and cooling on a hot, summer night.
We also got a salad. CT decided on the Tri Colori salad. It was made up of baby arugula, radicchio, endives, roasted spicy walnuts, roasted pears with homemade gorgonzola dressing. As you can tell, it was quite a large salad. The roasted pears were a nice touch. The dressing skimped a little on the gorgonzola.
Since this was my first time here, I decided we should get a plain pizza. This is the best barometer of a pizza place. If they can’t do a plain pie well, there is no point in going back. The Classica had marinara sauce, fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil. Vezzo makes a thin crust pizza. As you can see, it is almost cracker-like. It was a tasty pie that really did a good job of highlighting the fresh ingredients. We were both pretty hungry so we managed to gobble the whole thing down.
Some upskirt action for you. Not much char. I would have liked it cooked a little more.
All in all, it was a good meal. Vezzo has a ton of sidewalk seating, which is always nice, except during the brutal summer we are currently having. Luckily, it cooled off for a little while, so we were able to dine al fresco. I would be interested to go back and see how the thin crust holds up with more formidable toppings. Pricing is reasonable.
CT says: I really enjoy the pizza here. I like the thin crust because I feel like I get to eat more of it! I’ve also had a toppings-filled pizza in the past and the crust has surprisingly held up pretty well. Plus the toppings are always fresh. I’ll have to take TT back for more tastings, but all in all it’s a great local pizza place and the service is always friendly.

Cool. Pizza looks fresh.
Yea, more char on the crust would help. I like it rustic.
