Directly following my trip to Peru, I left on a research trip to the West Coast for two weeks. What was I researching? Glad you asked: a book on Stadium Eats! Um, yeah, without a deal in sight currently (hint, hint, anyone reading this who is interested!), I went to preemptively scout out the 6 West Coast stadiums and eat my way up and down the West Coast at the same time, starting in San Francisco, working my way down to Los Angeles, then San Diego, back up to San Francisco and then to Seattle! Phew! Tune in at 4:15 EST (or 1:15 PST, lunchtime on the West Coast) for the next 6 weeks to see what I ate and where I ate it… and how I gained 10 lbs in two weeks!
Following breakfast, I went to my favoritest shopping spot and spent 2.. maybe 3.. hours there. I came away having spent only $45, really, but that comes to about 30 items… yes, my dears, my shopping spot is Daiso, where just about everything is $1.50. This is where I go to replenish my bento supplies, feed the addiction, and just about go wild with stuff, dig through a full shopping basket, and still only spend $45, honestly. Afterwards, I drove over to Japantown for more bento-shopping, entered Ichiban kan and found the bunny cup I mention here – my last trip out there, I’d been unable to find the darn thing, but this time, score!
Then I needed a snack to tide me over for some more shopping before lunch. This cheese bacon bread was only $2 so I picked one up. It would have been better had it been hotter – they heated it, but not enough. It was okay, but a decent snack for $2.
I also picked up this lovely looking loaf, not realizing that it was sourdough. It was tasty enough, but sourdough plain is not really me thing, so I ate a couple of bites and gave up. The scary thing? I honestly do not know what happened to this loaf. I put it into a big bag with my many snacks (I travel with a ton of snacks, that is just my style, and I had a Trader Joe’s bag filled with them by day 2), and I don’t think I saw it again…
Yvo says: Very cute bakery in the middle of Japantown’s mall, it has a lot of cute, smallish snack type stuff, for around $2, and then larger items, soup, sandwiches for lunch, etc. I saw a bunch of people eating inside at its tables, clearly having lunch before returning to work. I walk by this place all the time when I visit SF (because I am constantly going to Japantown to shop for little things), and foresee going again for a small snack to recharge my energy while shopping!
