Blue Thunder made it out of her plowed in spot easily, to my delight and happiness. I arrived with lots of time to spare to have dinner with BF and the matriarch at a new spot in Howard Beach (full post to eventually come). Our Opera trio, above, for dessert was really delicious – the true mark of a successful dessert for me is if I take more than one or two bites. I took three or four; you know I don’t like sweets that much. Otherwise a mostly uneventful day… What is Project 365? Share and Enjoy:

Despite the crazy persistent snow and yuckiness… and the horrible slush all over the city on today… I managed to run into the city early to take care of some stuff, and then head down to Taste of 7th with some of my favorite readers. We managed to hit every spot before it went crazy with the lines – thankfully we all arrived relatively early to the crowds! – and enjoyed some bites of 7th Street. Some of those places, I have to go back and check out in more depth… full write-up to come (in a month!). Afterwards, we [...]

Il neige. It’s not the easiest to see the snow in this picture, but any NYC person will tell you that today, it snowed.all.damn.day. Starting some time on Thursday and pretty much all day today, it snowed. I of course made a soup of sorts (though I’ve been informed that because there is little to no broth, I cannot call it soup anymore; fine it’s stew!) to last me through the weekend. Pulled pork green chile stew except I conveniently left out the green chiles (I BOUGHT them, which is a huge win for me, but I left them out [...]

I don’t know squat about beer – or most alcohol, actually – and so have enlisted a true beer snob to educate me on the ways of barley. Or wheat. Or something. See? I don’t know anything! In any case, please welcome the newest addition to the Feisty Foodie, my beer blogger and buddy, BS! who will be writing Friday installments… The Beer Boor.Sierra Nevada 2010 Bigfoot BarleywineFor my inaugural beer blogging entry, I decided on a classic seasonal beer from Chico, California-based Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. Sierra’s been brewing for 30 years, churning out memorably good beer for far longer [...]
Paris Sandwich – New Combo

I recently went back to Paris to grab lunch and discovered, happily, a $5 combo they now offer. $5 gets you a green tea waffle, a coffee or tea (I think it’s milk-tea or the Asian coffee thing, which is great), and a smaller banh mi, chosen from the same selection. The green tea waffle has a very subtle green tea flavor, but has some crisp, chewy parts that are great, and other parts that fall flat. Overall, not bad for a green tea waffle (these usually are $1 by themselves). It’s a slightly sweet treat to go with your [...]
