Recipe Fridays: Apple Tings

Anyone who reads my site will realize I don’t actually bake and that desserts are kind of an afterthought for me.  They aren’t a priority for me, which may sadden some of you, but it doesn’t bother me in the least.  However, my boyfriend has a crazy sweet tooth.  But I didn’t make this for him.  Rather, I didn’t make this with him in mind, I just made it because it came to me, and I wanted to see if I could. It turns out… I can.  But… what IS that, you’re asking? Well, the name comes very simply: after I’d [...]

The Capital Grille – Preview Lunch

The Capital Grille – Preview Lunch

I recently managed to get a reservation to dine at The Capital Grille’s newest location, down by Wall Street, during their friends/family preview days – which means that yes, this meal was comped (minus drinks), though it had absolutely nothing to do with being a food blogger – just was in the right place at the right time, shall we say?  The above menu was given to myself and my dining companion, though we were told we could order from the regular menu that was also given to us “to look over for future reference” – and even all of [...]

CSA Week #19

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  Essentially, one purchases a ‘share’ in a local farm – much like the stock market, one then has a vested interest in seeing the farm succeed.  Dividends/pay outs come in the form of produce – vegetables and sometimes fruit.  Different farms do things differently; my farm happens to be also organic, and I pick up my box each week – Tuesdays for me – from a local location.  Join me on this journey – my inaugural season with a CSA – as I explore the various vegetables I receive and what I can do with [...]

Product Review: Sara Snacker’s Chipn’etzels

Sara Snacker’s Chipn’etzels recently crossed my radar via press release and subsequent samples sent my way.  I received both the above containers, though I’m not a white chocolate person, so those will be distributed during the big giveaway.  I am, however, a big fan of dark chocolate, and an even huger fan of salty-sweet snacks (thus my love of salted caramel… and putting salt in/on my chocolate chip cookies!), so I was really eager to try these. I actually almost ate the entire container before I remembered to take a picture of an individual cookie.  Drizzled with dark chocolate and [...]

NYC Cravings… again

NYC Cravings… again

Hey look!  The NYC Cravings truck is recommended by Midtown Lunch My order of “porken” – if you request “porken” you receive both a piece of chicken and a piece of pork for the regular price.  w00t!  Love good deals!  They’d run out of rice by the time I got there but the girl working there was kind enough to scoop every last bit of rice out for me, which turned out to be enough.  Mixed with the pickled mustard greens and hey, look- a tea egg (bottom right)! – it was really good and I was really full.  I [...]
