Roasted Chicken & Stock

This recipe is so easy I don’t even know if it counts as a recipe, though I don’t seem to have ever posted about roasting a chicken.  I think roasting a chicken is super easy and one of those things that every cook should know how to do properly.  It seems almost impressive – I mean, the first time I did this (probably a few years ago now, I am pretty sure it was for my current boyfriend and at his house), my boyfriend was like, “Is it a special occasion?”  I guess taking a gloriously roasted chicken out of [...]

Bondi Road

I’ve been wanting to try this place since I read about it in Gothamist, but time passed and I was unable to… finally, for a special “date”, we both wanted seafood and off we went on Thursday night!  Bondi Road is a super casual and laidback Australian themed seafood bar.  Having read good things, we opted to start off with the tuna tartare.  The tuna was chopped a bit awkwardly for me to scoop onto the delicious bread, so I didn’t eat much of it, but the olive tapenade and tzatziki-like sauce were tasty.  The bread had a slight kick [...]

Oh boy, have I been remiss with recipe posting. I took a peek at the archives, and eesh. I used to be about even with restaurants and recipes; now I’m nearly double for restaurants! And I haven’t been eating out that much, really… it’s just I make the same stuff over and over again, quick stuff because I’m tired when I get home from work or I’m busy on the weekends… No more excuses. Enter: For the Love of Cooking. I read about this on someone’s site at the beginning of the year, and she’s since stopped posting unfortunately, but [...]

Pi Day

I’ve never hid the fact that I’m a DORK, a nerd, a geek, and just, well, totally not cool. It doesn’t bother me because I take total pride in being uber dorky. Anyway, anyway, the point is, I celebrate PI DAY wholeheartedly and with glee. Not because it’s food – I’m not a big pie or sweets or baked goods person – though I have to say, that doesn’t hurt the cause one bit, but because it’s Einstein’s birthday. It’s pi day. I’m a pi girl. (Or was, depending on your definition.) For all of these reasons, and because I [...]
