Village Yokocho

Having read about Village Yokocho’s ‘tonkatsu ramen’ in TONY months and months ago, StB and I had wanted to try it but that time had opted for the much-further-walk of Minca Ramen Factory (links to TONY articles contained within as well).  We’d opted for Minca that time since Village Yokocho’s ramen was supposedly off-menu and we didn’t feel like trying to figure things out that time… So after we’d finished our snack at Otafuku, we headed to the Public Theater to get tickets for Yellow Face, David Henry Hwang’s newest play.  It was definitely thought provoking, but I’m not going to [...]

Otafuku

We started off our super-cultural day early yesterday by going to the Guggenheim and getting in a good hour or so of walking around and looking at … well, in my opinion, really poorly labeled art. I won’t get into what sucked and what didn’t, but you can look up what was on display if you like… In any case, after we were done at the museum, we headed down to the East Village and stopped by Otafuku for a snack to tide us over till dinner. StB had generously provided us with ginormous cookies from Levain Bakery, so we [...]

Does this make my lunch look phat? deadline extension

December 27, 2007 by

A few months ago, I announced my first ever contest, “Does this make my lunch phat?”  Unfortunately, the holidays caught hold of me and not that many people entered (boo…), so I’m extending the deadline (and finally announcing the extension!) to… February 29th.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, the new year will bring exciting news and an exciting plan (the 2nd solely regarding cooking!), so I expect that I’ll need some time to get back into the swing of things and get everything together.  Also, I like the idea of making the deadline a day that only comes [...]

Markt

Clearly I haven’t been eating out a lot lately, hence the lack of posts, nor cooking anything new. After the new year, however, exciting news and exciting plans will be announced… and Feisty Foodie will once again be updated more regularly! In any case, after the last dance class of session 1, my friends/fellow classmates decided to have a graduation dinner. Being that we’re apparently anti-social, we didn’t invite anyone else besides ourselves. StB chose Markt, since it’d crossed our radars ages ago but we hadn’t the chance to go yet. Reservations were made and off we went. The inside [...]

AOC

For HB’s recent birthday, the old FC reunited to take her to AOC, her last FC pick- we didn’t get up to it before we disbanded.  Per usual, StB ordered two appetizers to make her meal.  The above were her escargots, which she said were good, but I don’t believe she was WOW’d by them.  Her review here: http://swanchen.blogspot.com/2007/12/aoc.html I’m not sure who ordered the shrimp for the table, but these were huge and quite yummy with the dipping sauce, which was tangy and sweet at the same time.  I’m also not sure if this was intended but there were [...]
