I had tickets to the morning taping of the Martha Stewart show yesterday. I doubt any of my readers watch her show – especially since all of us have jobs and it airs at 1 pm – but anyway, her guest yesterday was Mario Batali. What an asshole! He used all these Italian words and they exchanged a few snarky moments here and there, which delighted me. We didn’t get to try what he made, either. Boo. But we did get goodie bags! of various items mentioned on the show. This item, this book (he was a guest on the [...]

For HB’s recent birthday (it seems all I do is post about birthdays anymore! haha), I searched for a long time for a brunch place that would take a reservation for 10. Unfortunately, all the places we really wanted to try (Danal, specifically, which sounds so good!, or Eatery) would not give us reservations, so we settled on Park Avenue Autumn. I was a bit wary if only because of my previous experience at its previous incarnation as Park Avenue Cafe, but the menu sounded quite delish and they were willing to give us last minute reservations for the prime [...]
Sephora Scent Samplers: For Her or For Him

Something slightly different from the norm… I’ve been really girly lately and obsessed with makeup and Sephora lately… For my birthday, my best friend LTS surprised me with the above gift. Everyone agrees I am impossible to shop for: if I want it, I buy it for myself, and I am incredibly picky so when I want something, I really have to have the exact one I want or it’s not what I want. (AKA: I’m a brat.) So it was incredibly surprising that this went over as well as it did with me- I’d actually seen it on the [...]

More “meh” Mexican… no, that’s not a stutter, that’s how I felt… I don’t want to sound ungrateful because I’m not unappreciative of the effort of my friends taking me out for (yet another) birthday dinner. They felt similarly anyway, so I don’t think anyone will be offended by this post. Also, thanks again to everyone who took me (us late October babies) out that night!!! I had a lot of fun! Mama Mexico was the only restaurant that would take reservations for that Friday night for 15 people. We took up the entire center long table of the restaurant, [...]
Bon Appetit Pop-Up Restaurant

To prove how far behind I am, here we go: the Bon Appetit Supper Club & Cafe! The pop-up restaurant that “swept the city by storm” so to speak, for only two weeks… almost a month ago. Oops. SB and I went on the very last day, for one reason and one reason only: Giada di Laurentiis. We’d thought, from the schedule, that she’d be demonstrating something but that day discovered it was a book signing. Ah well, we still wanted to try the food, and off we went. There was a line at 12 noon already, when it’d just [...]
