It’s probably too late. I know, it’s many months later, but I was so angry when I first ate it, I had to put aside the pictures to get over it. I apologize for that, for all those I could have prevented from eating this thing, but… well, you’ll see why I was so angry.
A few months ago, I was ecstatic when ShB emailed me that Cosi was now offering a LOBSTER ROLL SANDWICH! Now, bear in mind, I had a good idea that it would be disappointing or not that great, but still, a lobster roll imitation for under $10! (It is $9 something.) Why not?! Living and working where I do, for how much I do, means that I can’t have lobster rolls all the time (Pearl Oyster Bar has a great rendition, but I simply can’t afford both bodily nor financially to constantly eat them!). So this sounded like a fantastic alternative for lunch sometimes.
Well, that first day, I ran right out to Cosi and was dismayed to hear that they were out of the damn sandwich already. I grimaced and ordered the first sandwich that popped into my head- unfortunately, the same sandwich that had been released that day, sharing the same ad board as the lobster roll, the Asian pulled pork sandwich. Why unfortunate?
Aside from avoiding anything labeled “Asian” (from non-Asian food establishments) in general- it usually means the addition of Mandarin oranges, or of soy sauce, or a lot of things equally not very Asian to begin with- this sandwich was basically an overpriced bahn mi. I have limited experience with bahn mi, the Vietnamese sandwich that many people rave about, but this sandwich… while yummy… who the hell pays $8 for a bahn mi??? I felt like a fool.
I sincerely hope my somewhat belated post prevents at least two people from ordering this, and I will be vindicated.
**this sandwich contains, according to Cosi’s website, sliced pork tenderloin, Asian style cole slaw, red chili mayo.

I would have been angry about the “pulled” aspect of the pork. Sliced tenderloin and pork that’s been slow cooked so that the grains pull apart are two completely different things, and it looks like you were shortchanged on that front too!
