For a dual birthday, I kept my camera out and trained on the food, but I can’t properly review it, so please enjoy some semi-drunken photographs of food.
Amuse bouche; house pickles and broccoli rabe
Berkshire pork belly – so yummy, small appetizer portion though
Individual portion of the oyster above
A quick note; though we did take forever and a day to order, service was uneven and made a few big mistakes (such as completely f*cking up my order… then telling me they ran out… then… well, no matter, this isn’t a real review!). One of them being that another large group sat at a table next to us (we had 8 people; they had like 12 I think?) and apparently ordered a tasting menu. Anyway, after we’d had our appetizers cleared away, they started giving us individual servings of oyster, and we were kind of like, interesting, that’s a pretty cool free – palate cleanser perhaps? – expensive too… but then they realized they messed up and it was meant for the table next to ours. We were more than fine giving it up since it wasn’t ours, but that’s kind of gross for the other table, so the manager came over and was like No let them keep it and finish serving them (they’d only put down maybe 4 or 5 dishes when they realized the error). So that was a little weird.
Some rolls- though unique in filling choices, not that interesting/unique in taste
Overall, it was a nicely appointed restaurant, but I think it would be better for couples or double dates/smaller groups. The kitchen was fine, but the wait staff seemed to have trouble juggling two large tables though the rest of the restaurant wasn’t that busy at all, nor full on a Friday night.
Meh. The food was mostly good but nothing outstanding that makes me sit up and say, I have to go back for that (though the fatty pork belly was delish, it is also have-able elsewhere).
Happy eating!
