I sort of reviewed Alta back in January, the first time I went- with about 9 other people, so I didn’t bother trying to get pictures of everything, nor did I really bother to get into it. I just knew I liked the food. So when the other Two Musketeers- ShB and LL- wanted to have dinner and we were all in the area, I suggested it…
We decided to split everything amongst the three of us, and each chose two dishes. The menu was slightly different from last time (I would guess it’s seasonal),
Catalonian flatbread with mushrooms – this was good, but hard to cut into. I wish they’d sectioned it for us or provided better knives, I was smushing it while cutting it, a bit unpleasantly so
crabmeat canneloni – yummy, I loved the grapes in the fluffy foam, a surprise treat. the cannelonni itself was only so-so
great presentation, but this tomato & haricots verts salad wasn’t anything special.
foie gras- though the foie gras was lovely, as usual, the lack of bread or something to spread it on to counterbalance the super fattiness of it was a bit disconcerting. I don’t currently recall the name of what was in the bowl (I was off duty that night!), it was delicious and fruit based…
duck breast- the thicker slices weren’t as tender as they could have been, but the thinly sliced pieces were delicious. the accompanying frisee and citrus supremes were a yummy complement as well.
Overall, I still like this place and would continue to go here. Our total bill including tax and tip was $75 and we all enjoyed our meal, without being hungry still. My only complaint is that I don’t remember if we had our own plates, but some of the dishes are a bit hard to split though they are clearly meant to be split.
