Cafe St. Bart’s

109 E. 50th Streetcross street: Park Ave.(212) 888-2664 I refuse to link either menu that my friends and I found (one from MenuPages and one from the official website) for this restaurant since each differed from the other, and once we got to the restaurant, were completely different from our actual choices (bar a few selections that none of us opted for nor wanted).  A few weeks prior, we were looking for a brunch place and chanced upon this one.  Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to cancel Sunday brunch here ($25 prix fixe menu), but instead made [...]

Pommes Frites

123 2nd Avenuebetween 7th Street & St. Mark’s PlaceNY, NY 10003website / menu (Image on right taken from website.  I forgot to take a picture of the outside; plus there was a line out the door and it was starting to drizzle on me.  I don’t like getting my camera wet.  Sue me.) Since my very first time at Pommes Frites many years ago (I believe it was 1999), I have not ceased to be amazed by this place.  I was blown away by how expensive ($3 for a small at the time, with one free sauce) it was, but [...]

Delmonico’s

56 Beaver Street New York, NY 10004(212) 509-1144website Delmonico’s has this fabulous, long history to it… that I can’t remember.  It’s probably on the website, but offhand, there is a cut of steak named after it (which I believe is the rib eye), and I believe that this famous institution has part in the whole renaming of lobster newberg story as well.  (I was right; I looked it up, along with the rest of my references.  Very interesting stuff, actually!)  Unfortunately, Delmonico’s is super way far downtown.  Fortunately, my boyfriend and I were in the area, and after receiving some [...]

In & Out

In&Out, Take 1 Recently, I went on a weekend trip to Las Vegas with my girl friend, her boyfriend, and my boyfriend.  She mentioned that they were renting a car solely for the purpose of going to… In & Out, which is off the strip (near Tropicana, I think, or on Tropicana Avenue? something like that).  I won’t bore you with the details of why we wound up taking a cab there and asking the driver to wait while we got it to go… So after my first fairly negative review of In & Out, a few people told me [...]

Five Points

31 Great Jones StreetNew York, NY 10012(212) 253-5700website Unlike many other brunch places- particularly highly recommended ones- Five Points takes reservations.  That is definitely one of their good points- and they have many more than just 5.  I know I’m corny but oh well.  The odd thing is though… this place is not in or near Five Points (so if you’ve seen Gangs of New York, calm down, I’m guessing it’s not related).     top – 3 eggs baked in a crock; lemon ricotta pancakes; french toast over almond custardbottom – pulled chicken with poached eggs; eggs benedict, Five Points-style Honestly, [...]
